This is perfection. Love that outfit on Shepard, she totally rocks it. And many thankies for using one of my backgrounds! Β
By the way, what program do you use for your renders? I just wish I could create shadows like that...

No problem at all, your backgrounds are fab! Thank you for sharing them.
I use XNALara for my rendering then give it a wee bit of attention in photoshop

Same as me, which means that you, my dear, are extremely good at creating perfectly believable shadows. Any useful tips or tricks?
Do you also use XNALara to mod outfits and such? Because I heard it wasn't possible to play with Femshep's meshes in XNLara/XPS...

you are too kind by far.
I tend to use light 1 to light the models in the first instant, turning up the shadows a tad (but not much).Β
Light 2 and 3 I dial the shadow all the way up and use the light to highlight, normally light 2, maybe a quarter of the face and light 3, a sliver. Both using different colours (dependent on the lighting of the background image/scene, which you should pay close attention to). That's the way they tend to light in game, and in films and such. for example... fc02.deviantart.net/fs71/i/201β¦ femsheps face has a sliver of green on the left and just under a quarter warm light on the right. Also if you look at your icon (which I take it is a screencap) she is mostly lit from the top right, some additional warm light on that side too and a sliver of blue on the left.Β
I did a photography course a few years back and I became obsessed with lighting and how it can change a scene in a million ways. It's the unsung hero. Lighting is something I always pay attention to now.
The only real modding i do is swapping out heads and tweaking textures. I do know you can move bones of models then pose them, but that doesn't change them much. I use it to slightly change some of the features of my femshep to make her mum.
hope that helps

Thank you very much for all the great tips about the lighting! I've tried to emulate that sliver of light on a character's face using the lighting parameters in XPS but so far it doesn't quite work because the colour applies to the entire model... Maybe I've been doing it wrong so I'll give it a few more tries before actually giving up.
Also, about the "swapping heads" things, do you need to use two models that have exactly the same bone structure? What I mean is, some of the models I use have bone which have been named in, let's say 3ds Max which uses a different, more simple, bone structure than the one you normally get in XPS and when you try to put together a head and a body that have different bones, it doesn't seem to work. And I've read somewhere that you cannot put the head of a custom Femshep on a different body in XPS (only in Blender or 3ds Max). Again, it could be that I'm missing something but I remember trying it with a very clear and concise tutorial but nothing worked...
Sorry to bother you with those silly questions but I would really love to be able to do that kind of stuff by myself instead of asking other people to do it for me.
