Yeah, sure, "friends". It's obvious they're a couple and I don't really mind that they didn't say it out loud, but the way they kept insisting they were just best friends felt really forced and awkward. Luckily we all know the truth.

Yeah, I know. Like I said, I don't mind that they didn't confirm it, but I hated the awkward way they tried to deny it. Luckily the animators were wise enough to fight back by making those two look so obviously attracted to each other.

Derpygate should never have happened in the first place. The positive reactions to Derpy far outnumbered the negative ones, so censoring Derpy was completely pointless. But it's all water under the bridge now, and I understand why Hasbro wants to play it safe even though I don't like it.

They didn't need to DO anything, just have Lyra and Bon Bon doing stuff as a couple.
Instead they go out of their way to clarify: "Definitely NOT a couple, just friends."
Some of us aren't as easily distracted by some random revelation about how Bon Bon is a secret monster hunter. A reference I still don't get.

It all lies in the subtext. Watch the scene again and try to concentrate on their body language and facial expressions. "Best friends" is actually just somekind ofΒ placeholder for "we are a couple". IMO DHX did the best to indicate that they are indeed a couple without saying it on screen. It is a show aimed at kids after all andΒ DHX simply can't state on screen that they are a couple without outraging Β lots of "concerned parents".
It's just the same like in "Tanks for the memories", where they replaced "death" with "hibernation".Β

Agreed, they were definitely acting more like life-long lovers then simple friends.
The fact that HASBRO has made MANY hints and scenes about these two makes me happy, since it seems to imply they're OK with this idea.

Vinyl and 'tavi very may well be, but with the viewer seeing Lyra & Bon Bon on the benches all the time,
they take the lead in my book. ^^
