....this is probably the most effort i've ever put into an image. Also the most concentrated digital work i've ever done. The lines were traditional, but everything else was drawn, coloured and shaded on the computer. a big step for the luddite i am.The theme for this round was Elegance, which was a challenge with my unholy terror - but somehow, she pulled it off.
I spent a good deal of time looking up the symbolism of kimonos, and believe me, everything on her kimono has a meaning.
The flowers on her orange under-kimono are for her feminine side - but they're surprisingly spiky, also in accordance with her disposition.
her over-kimono is green (surprise surprise) and patterned with a stormy sea overset with clouds and lightning. The ferocity of the storm is also something of her nature - tempestuous, ever-changing, violent and unpredictable. I chose dragons to cover her kimono as they're a fairly masculine symbol of strength and power - and besides, she's a little flashy.
The symbol on her obi combines the traditional art of japanese heraldry with the symbol of her Guild - the Thieve's Guild. it's important for her to show her alleigance.

Oh, you certainly did. For a moment I had to wonder if I was truly looking at Kit Bates! "Where's the mullet? Where's the uncaring, badass expression?" I had thought. Even her horse-like face didn't seem to stand out like it normally did. It was nice to see her in an attractive way, I always secretly thought that she had the capability to be beautiful despite all of her flaws, and you definitely captured that side of her. It's also nice to see her still as the same old Kit I've come to adore: I mean, would this picture truly be complete if she wasn't about to shank some poor soul with her pointy knives?

Augh, the shading looks painful, but in the end I think it gave a nice, silky texture to the kimono. :3 And a great amount of detail! Especially the the research you put into the kimono design.

I can really see the effort and time you've put into this piece, and I believe it is a personal step of skill for you. You've done a wonderful job on this and I'm damn sure you should make it to the next round. Wonderful job and great job at making this category work for Kit, it must have been a challenge.
