I love doing macro shots of nature, so decided I'd try my hand at a manifestation of nature and turning it from what is often seen as pornographic, into a work of art.Some have said that this image has no artistic merit, but fortunately more seem to beg to differ. I think a close-up of this nature may be tricky to present artistically, but I do not think it impossible.
You'll have to judge for yourself. This is the first artistic nude I have done.

I must add my opinion that this is indeed an artistic shot. Β Purely in terms of composition, tone, shapes, and textures, it contains the elements of an aesthetically pleasing shot. Β The fact that it happens to depict an area of the body that is associated with pornography cannot eclipse the artistic merit. Β I think it is a very beautiful thing to be able to depict any part of the body in this way. Β

This is quite amazing. Many artist attempt Β to photograph genitalia in a non-pornographic way, but due to the overload of pornographic images these days this is actually extremely difficult to achieve. But you have mastered it! Stunning shot.

I think you are right, it is very hard to present this in an artistic way....but you have done exactly that. It is a very beautiful image of something that is sadly all too often exploited. I did the same type of experiment, to see if I could do it. Like yours, I think I achieved what I was after. This βlineβ is entirely subjective and the Artist has no control over how their work is viewed. When the viewer sees the image they will react to their own sensibilitiesβ. It is a skirmish between an open-mind and a closed mind. I feel the closed-mind, being offended, makes more noise and βrallyβs the troopsβ bringing their level of noise a few notches over that of the artist them self. Open-minds tend to speak quietly to each other in places like this. Thank goodness for places like this, because the closed mind tends to stay away.

I donβt think others people arousal works your favor here. Art is about arousing the viewer, which is probably the primary purpose behind art with no regard for the subject matter. It seems to play a role here because of the image. Actually though, blackwhitepantheon expresses their opinion well and is speaking of a particular arousal that I quickly changed the context of. But in my opinion this is important food for thought.

Mantispid β You presented this as art and there was no trickiness to it. Great job! My question to you is what made you want to shoot nudes in the first place? And a quick follow-up, why did you choose this shot as your first endeavor into nudes?

I have a lot of practice doing close-ups of insects, and wanted to approach a style of nude photography that many would not shy away from modeling for. The anonymity of macro art brings about an interesting mystery, I think.

I am always astonished to read about a woman that knows nothing about her own anatomy. The "vagina" is what is inside. You need a doctor's probe with light and optical device attached to see it.
