Description

Edit 2: Some more building work is happening. At last we have a guest stable and the mares and stallions are being separated. This should ease things along and make things much easier. Another new barn has been built and I'm not sure what the final layout will be, whether to split fantasy and realistic horses or just split stallions and mares. At the minute all the stallions and mares are just dotted around, but separated >.< I've got a lot more horses coming which will fill up a lot of stables. There are more fields, by the way. Just out of view there are probably five more.

Edit: Some much needed renovations are taking place at Firelight in view of the upcoming show. A new barn has been built alongside an indoor arena and there is also a new stable block. This will provide stables for the show contestants when they arrive, and also some room for Aithne and he horse hoarding. As you can see from this new and improved map, you can gain access to the 'overflow' carpark from the main road to the right of the map. This is the big field next to the cross country field. This is the only place trucks can really be parked because there's no other room.

So just a quick layout for Firelight, more to help me than anything else. Soon I'll be drawing images of the place, and I needed a rough layout of the stables. The road down to the stables is too narrow for the horse truck, and the car park too small, so it has its own hard standing in a field (which doubles up as a car park during shows and leads onto the main road) next to the cross country field. The car park can fit probably six cars if people can't park, eight if they know what their doing. As we all know, people in England can't park, so a lot of people visiting just park on the road x.x I'll write a little story to go with this I think, to give a better idea of things.

1. Cottage - a four bedroom, two story house with white plaster exterior walls and a red roof.
2. The yard. A concrete surface with a tap near the recovery stables for filling buckets.

11. Barn with 14 stalls, including two extra large stalls, a tack room, and an indoor washing area - has a door into the indoor arena - (stallion barn) Fool, Jack, Taffy, Glamour, Macht, Rojuk, Devil, Volare
12. Barn with 20 stalls, 2 washing areas, second tack room, extra large recovery stable, staff office, staff bunk room for staff that need to stay over, food and bedding storage - under construction
13. Mare and foal field & covering field
14. Guest Stable & Guest Living quarters on first floor. Guest stable includes tack room, washing area & 8 stables. 3 guest bedrooms with en suites and a kitchen/living area - under construction

As you drive along the narrow road that they had the nerve to call a main road, to notice a deep red sign at the side of the road with a golden crest on it. The sign proclaims that the upcoming exit leads to Firelight Stables. As you pull up to the lane that leads from the road, to come to some old iron gates under an ancient brick arch riddled with moss. You rang ahead to let them know you were arriving and so there is a tall man with scruffy red and black hair waiting at the gates, he opens them for you and you enter with your car. The lane ahead is lined with tall, old trees and bushes that obscure most views beyond them, yet you can just make out the forms of horses in the fields beyond. The fields are protected on all sides by tall pine trees which obscure the view. The entire place seems extremely private. The tall man follows your car as you trundle down the lane, your wheels crunching over loose stones and the rubbing out the signs of hoofprints on the dusty surface.

You enter the car park after a quarter of a mile to find it contains three cars and really isn't very large. You park up facing the large menage and catch a glimpse of a large, dark horse being lead across the yard to your right. The man who let you through the gates steps up to you with his hand extended as you get out of your car. "Hey," he says cheerfully as you shake his hand. "I'm Lee, the cross country trainer here, it's good to meet you." He grins with his blue eyes sparkling and brushes his long fringe out of his face. He is wearing scruffy black jodphurs with old green wellingtons and a deep red jumper with the stables crest on it. "If you'd like to follow me, I'll take you to the yard." You follow him as he springs forwards with a jaunty gait, looking around as you go. As you head towards the yard, there is a white cottage to your right with old glass windows and a red roof. Behind you you hear a small whinny and glance back to see a mare and her brightly coloured foal in a field next to the menage. Looking back in front of you as you enter the yard you see a series of stables painted white with black doors and red roofs. Each stable door has a brass plate on it. There are three sets of stables that you can see, a set of five, a set of eight, and two large stables that appear to be for sick horses and pregnant mares. Directly across the yard through the gap in the opposite corner, you can see a red haired girl performing a join up with a young mare in the circular pen. Another girl strides towards you with a huge piebald horse at her side who follows her quietly and obediently. She grins and pats the horses neck. "I'm Aithne," she says politely, "I'm the owner and yard manager, it's nice to have you here at Firelight."

Such a beautiful stable I'm curious, too do you have any artwork or reference photos of what the cottage looks like? I love your description, but I'd love to see it the way you imagine it
