Pokemon comic! "Saving at an Inconvenient Location".Have you ever thought about what happens to your game sprite when you play, or rather, stop playing? no? okay maybe I'm just weird then.... XD
This comic resulted in me thinking about what happens when you save the game and leave it. The game lets you save at any location, but the game clock keeps going, so it's not really suspending time.
So then I thought how inconvenient it would be for the poor player character if I saved in weird locations like the middle of a snowstorm (route 216 in D/P/Pt), heavy rain (route 33 HG/SS), in the middle of dark caves etc and she's forced to spend the night there XD
I decided the most inconvenient location to spend the night would be while surfing, 'cause any other place you could at least set up a tent or something, but how do you set up a tent in the middle of the water (on top of your poor Pokemon) >__<
The girl is Lyra from HeartGold/SoulSiver, with her Lanturn named Lanna (b/c that's my lanturn's name).

Yep they are...I have two in my Platinum and Soulsilver games-Mumble which I got as a birthday gift from a friend and Iki as my Platinum starter and I'd like to say Mumble's son.

My sprite is camping out in front of the elite four right now. Some last minute prep maybe... well she really doesn't need it. level 85 salamence can take out all the trainers single handedly (80 groudon likes to help cus he's carrying amulet coin)

Poor thing. Now I won't be able to stop thinking about that! Hmm, I usually save at Pokemon centers, but since I've been EV training lately I save on a rainy route. Poor sprite must be soaked, I'll have to start saving somewhere else, ha ha.

i named my player Liana... i dont have LAnturn yet..... it seems a lil diff then the silver for the gameboy color... my friend stole that game so i cant remember much of the game

yeah, HeartGold/SoulSilver has Generation IV features (learnset, stats, moves, pokemon etc) just following the Gold/Silver storyline

yea it does.. i got game.. some parts of story i dont remember but i dont care.. im just trying to get to levels 35 before i battle the team rocket guy that has pink hair i think.. hes annoying.

I did wonder what happens when you're not playing, out of habit I always save in the center of a room when i'm done playing, that or just find a remote corrner to stay out of everyones way XD.
I actualy had a pretty good Lanturn on my original gold, but I never got one in Soul Silver, I replaced it with a Quagsire.

Depending on where you save that might not be a bad thing, It can actualy be pretty nice sleeping out in the middle of a feild inder the stars.

Haha, maybe the Pokeballs are like custom rooms, where Pokemon inside can decorate and customize it? The anime says it heals and protects the Pokemon, so maybe it has a spa too XD

In my opinion, the WORST place to be in is a volcano, like Stark Mountain. You gotta be HOT and having to avoid lava.

Also, you're not the only one. I always specifically try to save in a building (pokecenter usually). I also once imagined what would happen to the sprite if you save, then went like, up a waterfall and then turned it off right afterwards, do they teleport? Or do they just run around and have to be back in that spot?

You mean if you did stuff and didn't save, and then turned it off? I think time just sorta rewinds, and the sprites get teleported back to the last save point in a sense, because everything you did after the save point is as if it didn't happen, so it's more like time undo thing...

Clever comic. I have thought about the real-time clock and saving a really long time ago when I still wondered about such things, and my theory was simply that everything got time-frozen in the PM world.

Yeah, I though it's like that too (same with any game really, that the game world just time-freezes), but then the Pokemon world clock still ticks ahead, so time isn't really frozen, just the events I guess? XD

Oh yeah, I have a habit of moving away from doors when I save or do stuff, so I don't block the way XD Hmm, I wonder about saving in front of legendaries and stopping?
One of my friends saved his r/s/e in his rival's bed XD

LOL! That'd be funny, saving in front of the door XD "can you move?" "no, I'm supposed to stay right here." Although most NPCs don't move from room to room, they either stay still or run around in circles XD
I save in front of legendaries all the time, in case I accidentally kill them, so I can restart from the save point XD I don't think they'd mind, I think they could use some company after staying there all alone for such a long time XD

Oh man, did you see this clip of Black and White? There were people actually going up and down a street in purposeful manners! XD Hmm, maybe your character kind of does that when you're not playing, so people only have to wait a little for them to get out of the way. I got this idea from that guy "saving his game" near the gate going up to Blackthorn in HGSS. He doesn't move XD
Hm, I wonder if legendaries ever chill with the pokemon in the area, or if they like people DX maybe they play with your pokemon XD
The point was, if the rival were to come home, they'd be like, "WTH, who's in my bed?!?" Yeah! I liked how they started letting you "get in beds" in the third generation XD

Haha, yeah I got way too many phone calls from ppl I don't care about, so usually I just ignore them or open up the bag (or Pokemon menu), and that'll stop the ringing phone, until they call back few minutes later X.x
