Description
Predaking. He's my favorite character of the giant transformers of Decepticon.
I think that the art of "CALL OF THE PRIMITIVE" is very cool.
I watch the story many times.
What is more, Grimlock and other characters are so charming too in this story.
Gouache on clear film, and oil on canvas.

Call of the Primitives is the best animated episode of the entire series and that's a fact! It was rumoured to have been animated by Tokyo Movie Shinsha, the studio which animated Sonic X and Inspector Gadget.

As a transformers fan,I really enjoyed this Magami Ban art style and no amount of super robot anime can add up to this...well..except for Dancougar,Machine Robo Revenge of Chronos,Dangaioh,Tekkaman Blade and I guess Transformers Victory used it most of the times. Studio Ox must really come back...Transformers nowadays stinks because of Michael Bay. My dream was to become an anime supervisor and the first order of business, remake the Original transformers from the 80's with a new story-line fitted for matured audiences like the good-old days of Super robot animes, animation by Studio Ox/Magami Ban and bring Machine Robo to America without the name of that god-forsaken franchise "Gobots" ruining it and wage a war between Machine Robo and Transformers. Yeah, that would bring the party in da house..marble-v FOREVER!!!

call of the primitives is definetly the best TF episode, 2 reasons: The art style is awesome, and I love beast formers!
It's a shame art work like yours isn't done for anime these days...

Yeah I think so, beast formers were really lucky characters because they were drawn with great old art as you said.
I love that art style and hope to see a animation style like it someday, and a robot animation like transformers G1

Yeah, I love the intro art to Beast Wars neo.
I don't think the industry has the patience for it anymore. I did cell animation for my uni degree and everyone thought I was mad!
I still paint on cell for myself, but I had to try and mimic that style in photoshop for a couple of works for a company I did.

I share your feelings, my friend ask me sometimes why I don't use CG to work. Maybe I want to watch more cell animations or images because there're very few works recently.
I love your cell works, they are very beautiful! keep on great work
And I have one question, how do you get cells?

yeah, I didn't want to use CG, but when I got a job I had to shift...I've found ways of working I like, and because I want into the industry it's good for me to try and keep up with CG styles.
It's good that you are still keeping the way of painting alive, and I would never stop doing it, it's just finding smaller ways to show it now. Using CG to do anime style well still requires the knowledge and experience of doing it the real way (too many anime look flat now, because it is not treating CG as just a tool, it seems to have changed the work ethic...)
Sorry if this too many words...I know some Japanese but I can't express myself with it ^^'
I'm really happy you like my cell work--yours is waaaaay too good, so to be pleasing you is awesome!
Well, I say 'cells' but I simply get normal ohp film sheets, it's genaral office supply for projectors...Its what it called here in U.K. I purchase from e-bay normaly, but office supply shop will carry them also. (by the way, I am now switching from acrylic to gouache thanks to you )
