Here is my second entry for the Mantelbeast MYO contest!!!!

IT'S OFFICIALLY BEEN 2 YEARS since the first Mantelbeast MYO Contest happened here on DA, and my little army has been growing steadily since then. I love everyone who's been a part of this community, and I wanted to do this again! Now that it's summer and I've graduated college, it seems the perfect opportunity, no?

Rift is a sweet child and caring child despite his appearance. Many would assumed that Rift would be a cocky child due to his rather intimidating appearance(and his dark coloration), however, once you actually get to know Rift, he is one of the most nicest and caring beast you'll meet. He acts like a mother hen worrying over the slightest thing weather you receive a small scratch or being really sad; he'll try to make you happy and fret over you constantly. Not only is he sweet, caring, and kind, Rift can also be semi-strict and aggressive when needed to be(to protect his friends, loved ones, and his precious eels).

History: (Another bad history that you have to bear with)
Many years ago, when Rift was young, he had an odd fascination with the oceans and the creatures that dwell within the vast water. He'll constantly go down to the beach and swim in the ocean for hours in the ocean watching the sea life in wonder and curiosity; most of the time he'll swim with the fishes, mess with the crabs, and play around with the sea mammals he sees sometimes, but only one animal has caught his eyes... and that would be the gigantic saltwater eels.

Rift was fascinated with these long creatures, since it was something unique and different from the other fishes. Eels have a LOOOOOONG body almost resembling a snake and sea snake, but different since both snakes are long, but slender while eels are much larger. Rift spends so much of his time with the eels that they'll let Rift play, pet, and hunt with them! He continues to visit and spend time with the eels throughout the years; to him eels remind him of a second family/friend(and sometimes a pet too).

As the years go by, Rift grew more attached to the eels that sometimes he'll consider them as his children. However, on one sunny day, Rift was on his way back to the beach to spend more quality time with the eels, but once he reached the beach he noticed a boat by the rocky coast, at first he thought they were tourist or a family on vacation so Rift completely ignore the boat and continue on with his journey to the reefs. As he got into the oceans water he then noticed someone surfacing dressed in a divers suit, he was confused at first, but then remembered about the boat he saw earlier; it was the tourist or someone on vacation.

Rift was about to greet the person, but stopped midway when the diver pulled up a large fishing net and within the nets were the eels he grew up with; mouth open and wide eyed, Rift was horrified that his eels friends were in the net, something within Rift snapped as he aggressively swam up to the diver, almost wanting to punch him, but decided to nicely ask the diver to release his friends. Of course the diver refused saying that the eels he caught were to be for money. That did it. Rift snapped and completely screamed at the diver to release the eels at once, the diver got so scared seeing Rift angrily screaming and shaking him to release the eels; the diver then got a feeling that if he didn't do what Rift said, there would be terrible consequences that the diver will suffer from.

The diver shakily agreed and apologized to Rift and immediately released the eels, but before he could leave Rift gave the diver a fair warning that if he ever sees him again, trying to capture more eels then he would be sorry; scared once more the diver agreed and quickly swam away. Rift now satisfied went down to check on the eels; after what happened Rift then decided that he wanted to become the eels guardian/protector so no eels will be caught or hurt.
