Description After the height of colour had passed from the same sunrise as Pinnacles Hut Sunrise , I brought out the trusty 50mm f/1.8 to capture some more of the details of the rising mist. I loved how the light was shining on the rock elements further down the track.

This was taken from Pinnacles Hut, a popular rock climbing area on the Mount Somers track. The rocks in view show you why.

yea. I am also thinking of replacing my D80 with a D700, but I need to find someone who wants to buy my camera first.

That could be tough given its age, but good luck!
The D700 is an amazing step up from the D80!

It is, until I heard about the D800. Now I have my eyes set on it. It's exactly the camera I need now, and it has video photography with full HD, which would be very useful

mmm... I'm not sure about the D800... it is fantastic for landscapes now, but would be horrible for the sports work I also do!

I personally like it more, but deviantArt masses just cant get enough of pretty sunrise/set colours!

You're welcome. I look between the two and think they are incomparable. PHS is beautiful; but also too beautiful, in a way.
This one is magnificent. There is more awe and mystery (mist-ry?!!) here. I could write fantastical stories from this valley.

You're welcome I do think about the submissions people put up, but usually struggle to find the right words for comments. I never want to come across as pretentious. But I hunger so much for decent comments on my own photos that I try my best to be honest to others

And the more I gaze upon Misty Rise, the more I am drawn to it, and into it. That's what I meant when I said write from this valley: this photo itself has stories bursting from it.
