It looks sexy, but it looks heavy and unpractical. But i love the design.

It uses composite materials to compensate for the weight. but i'm trying to fighure how it is unpractical.

I am referring to the length of the overall weapon. It seems like it's has a 20" barrel as the entire body seems about 30+" in size.

Ir was originally made to be a LMG but the caliber of ammo was smaller. Longer barrle makes for better range and reduced bullet drop. plus it adds to acurracy while sacrificing maneuverability.

It's Navy JROTC. >.<
If I were in college I'd do Marine ROTC, but... Oh well.

I was in Air Force JROTC graduating as a C/Lt Colonel (Commander in US Navy CiC) and will be attending the USAF Senior ROTC program.

If i were you i'd either go NAVY, Air Force or Army. I knew a guy in my graduating class and he was in the Marines. He was killed by a car bomb last year. But that's your choice and you will do our nation proud.

Wow that's awesome.
It looks almost like a light machine gun, in which case I'd figure a larger clip (like a drum or box clip) and a bipod might be more practical.
But at the same time the configurations you show make it seem more like an assault rifle, what with the foregrip, silencer and grenade launcher (I think...)
So, the designation of a Heavy Assault Rifle is quite accurate, imo.

There is another variant like this but the mag well assembly is different on the XMG228. It's located in front of trigger assembly and the barrel is larger.
Thanks

It does look like a mid thing between an assault rifle and an light machine gun. The small magazine would be detrimal though, so I'd have to agree with your assessment of adding a drum clip. Box clip might become too unwieldy when put into bullpup like that, maybe a casket magazine?

Yeah that could work. It might make it a bit unwieldy if you have to hit the deck, though. Nothing like getting punched with the butt of your own gun when you go to ground XD

Better than getting shot because your 20-round clip ran out of bullets in the middle of a battle?

Plus the angled magwell wouldn't be for best fit unless you're using the MG36 dual drum mag.

Those are pretty good as long as you're careful not to get any dirt in them, then they'll jam to high heaven

I know. I take gun care into consideration when operating a full auto weapon

I've never actually handled a fully automatic weapon, but I try my best to read up on them. Even then I know how important proper care and maintenance is, with empathis on cleaning.

Most of the newer lines of full auto weapons have stainless steel internals. The only full atuo rilfe i handled was an M4A2 Tactical rifle

Not a bad idea. Superior components will probably save many a soldier's day.
