Description
This year, NASA celebrates its 50-year anniversary. In my book, it's one of the most impressive organisations in the world.Mech prototype, designed in Sketchup 3D. The NASA logo was used for creative purposes only.

NASA *should* build one of these...
I'd bet you could sell the idea on congress too...just say: "OOoooOOOOoo! Look! Shiny Robot!"

Very nice! What is the mech's intended purpose? Military, civilian or perhaps exploration?

Tnx man. Primarily the mech would function as a technology demonstrator, intended to boost further development. I never really believed in the military application of mech-tech. One could imagine (manned) mechs being used as cargoloaders or (offworld) heavy construction units.

Oh-- It says it right there on the picture. Sorry 'bout that.
I think that most mech applications, especially military, are pretty pointless due to the fact that the massive engine necessary to move a mech in combat operations or long distances would would be too heavy for it to move itself (with today's current technology, of course). Overall, a very nice design! Very well thought out.

Mmm. I do love your style! Am I right in saying that this and the Dakar Racing Mech share a common chassis?

You're right of course. The racing mech was kind of a spin-off from the NASA-design. It was never intended originally. It just came to me after I'd finished the NASA-mech.

Woo uber cool.
I've just started out in Sketchup and this thing looks way too complex for someone like me to do
I'll be pondering how you've done certain features on this for sometime XD

I wonder how long before someone drunk takes the mech for a spin and makes it "do the robot" or maybe the "funky chicken"?
Great job with this.

niiiiiice
I notice that you've used about the same leg model in your shell race mech.
It looks really cool, and to think that you did it in sketch-up!

Once again you deliver, Marrekie. Fantastic work. Tell me, how posable is this 'bot model for animation purposes?

Wow that is amazing. I wonder what a military use variant would look like. Any idea how long this design took you?

Honestly dude, I totally lost count. Normally I keep track of how many hours I roughly spend on a design, but this time I really can't tell you. It took me A LOT of time... it was my first serious mech in Sketchup after all.
