In the outward regions of the Imperial Realm, life thrives abundant from the seeded worlds of the Pilgrims. Like the branch of a life-giving tree, their path winds in between the suns and moons of Inner Nebra, and in their wake countless ecosystems in the void have blossomed. Misty clouds of pseudoplancton move on stellar winds, feeding off light and radiation to grow into biomass of unfathomable proportions. The process is slow and microscopic, yet takes place on a cosmic scale. And from that foundation, higher organisms consolidate, sprouting from seeded belts of asteroids like krill and lesser predators.

Nobody knows the hierarchy of higher organisms following this foundation better than the voidward huntsmen and whaler chasing down the most curious specimen, and culling those most abundant. Precious elements, tissues, and artefacts are harvested from those creatures, alongside precious moments of greater understanding about the nature humankind has brought to the stars. They are naturalists as much as hunters, driven by fascination and necessity.

Their ships are small, maneuverable cutters, armed with an array of unique weapons designed to incapacitate and capture the fauna of the void. Their journeys are long, and wrought with peril. But their craft is among the many gold-rushes of the void, as the Imperium expands.
