Description The MiG-50 is a single-engine aerospace fighter aircraft developed by the Mikoyan-Gurevich Design Bureau for the forces of the Soviet Union. It was part of a wider reform of the soviet aerospace forces as a result of unacceptable losses during the Tanarsus World War.
As a replacement for older aerospace craft relegated to service on the Union's less important worlds and bases, the MiG-50 was to be a cheap and easily maintained fighter that could help to bolster Soviet numbers.

Design and Role
Originally designed as primarily an interceptor, several variants of the MiG-50 have been furnished as multirole fighters capable of performing a range of different operations, including air-to-surface operations and precision strikes.

The original production model of the MiG-50 relies more heavily on ground control and infrastructure due to the limited onboard electronics of sensors. Later iterations, however, introduced more sophisticated targeting systems and detection sensors, allowing the craft to operate more independently.

Development History
Up to the late 2260s, the Soviet Air Forces and Navy maintained a large number of outdated aerospace fighters serving in garrisons and on secondary bases. Many of these were approaching obsolescence by 2270 and increasing numbers of maintenance issues and accidents due to outdated equipment pushed Soviet leadership to seek an overhaul of the service's strength, especially in light of the growing threat posed by the GDR.

The MiG-50 was the Design Bureau's answer to the request for a cheap yet capable fighter craft that would become the replacement for the outdated forces at as little a cost as possible. The development process and its continued focus on cutting costs and maintenance requirements resulted in a design that sacrificed range and some maneuverability while maintaining a durable frame and capable weaponry to the satisfaction of the administration.

After its introduction into the service, the MiG-50 saw unexpected success in early operations against pirate incursions, earning the favor of many pilots who lauded its intuitive and reliable operation. Its favor within the service was so strong that the design was developed into several more sophisticated and expensive variants, seeing use primarily in the Soviet Navy.

Variants
Several major variants of the MiG-50 are being currently produced for both the Soviet Air Force and Navy, as well as several export variants for aligned nations.

Iirc there was an old design image for the MiG 551 showing off all the variants along with one for the DemFed F-whatever “Vampire” and the latest Messerschmidt. Though going off of that the 551 was the oldest of the 3.

Great work though.
