Description

The Valiant-Class is a first-generation design of the ISAF, conceived following the extension of the Destroyer-Class White Star Project to a full fleet roster.

Considerably smaller and more compact than the Victory, the Valiant-Class was among the first designs to be produced in greater numbers and serve as one of the heavier conventional warships of the combined alliance fleets.

Much like the original flagship of the ISAF, the Valiant-Class combines primarily earth/minbari technologies, with some systems bing augmented by vorlon components. However, elements of both Brakiri and Drazi technologies were incorporated into the ship's energy- and weapon's systems, upholding the spirit of inter-species cooperation.

Well armed and armored, the Valiant sacrifices some of the maneuverability and speed displayed by other ships incorporating such advanced technologies. This was mostly a concession to the ISAF's reliance of conventional vessels of various younger races in many deployments, which would not have allowed the Valiant to take full advantage of these traits either way.

A notable feature introduced by this vessel, which was later adopted by most ISAF designs, is the dynamic name plate displaying the ship's designation. Inspired by original vorlon designs, this section of the hull displays the ship's class and name in a wide range of languages and scripts, depending on the beholder.
