This looks like it could be a superhero origin story. Or the beginnings of an adventure.
She moves quickly through the streets, carefully avoiding passersby. Clutching the turquoise jewel to her chest, she ducks her head. Tactfully using the shawl to conceal her face, the girl glances behind her as she crosses the street. Brilliant blue eyes scan the crowds for anyone who may be following. She can't risk losing the jewel. Not after what she's learned. What she's seen! As she swiftly strides home she reflects on recent events.
--Earlier--
She had been on her way home from school when she noticed two grown men harassing an elderly woman. The girl couldn't stand bullies. She'd pulled out her phone and threatened to call the police on the men if they did not cease. That's when it'd happened. The taller of the two men whipped around at the sound of her voice, knocking the older woman over. As she fell a streak of icy blue light shot from her hands. The man stood, frozen in place. Encased in and icy shell. The girl stared in shock at what she'd just seen. Blinking when the man's companion fled past her, she turned her attention to the elderly woman. She helped her to sit up and asked her what just happened. The woman hastily removed her shawl and placed it on the girl's shoulders. She tried to protest, but the woman then gave her the jewel, still chilled from earlier.
Staring into the girl's blue eye's she says, "Protect this with your life. They will not give up."
"Who? What is this? Why- how did it-?"
"Protect it!", the woman hissed, squeezing her hands over the jewel, "You must protect the Gelus Jewel! Don't let them get a hold of it!"
"Who?! Don't let who get a hold of it?", she prodded, but it was too late. The woman had passed.
--Present--
With more questions than answers, the girl continued home. Not knowing what the future had in store for her.
One thing was for certain. Her life would never be the same again.
