If I am correct this picture is a part of a series about Dubai. This pictures says a lot about the local setting. It depicts the contrast between conformity and local spirit. And the synecdoche in the picture works wonderfully and sends a strong story about this city.
The focus of this picture is towards the man taking a selfie using the lighting from the building design. His character is to me, very playful; young at heart while he is fashioned himself in a western style business outfit. The focus is not so strong but it is the focus because the color contrast and he is the only character in an architectural setting.
The composition in the picture is composed to see the architect design as well. It shows organization and conformity but with local spirit texture. It tells the story of a culture in progress while the roots of the culture is still strong.
This works very well with the prior image with the man and the camel which contrast the globalization and the culture roots.

I am sorry to have to comment here on the above critique- I am not sure if this is appropriate or not, but to be frank, I can't relate to this critique at all. I see this photo from an entirely different perspective, one having nothing to do with "the city and culture of Dubai". Β Marx77 LIVES in Dubai, so where else is he going to take all these wonderful photos? This photo, like all of Marx77's photos, speak to me on a universal level about human beings; not one city, one culture, not globalization versus culture roots. Β And, frankly, I found the last image of the camel taxi and his caretaker to be just plain funny. No lofty extrapolation needed on that one.
Although I am the last person who should say this, since I don't see a fraction of the photographs I would like to see, I am going to say it anyway. Perhaps if the writer of the above critique wants to learn more about the photographer and how he captured the photo, he should simply look at more of Marx77's photos? There is NO shortage of those!
