I posted on the forum and asked:
its mostly for things that can't be fullviewed.
Basically what you want to be under "download" you put under tha main file upload part, and the preview you put into the preview file upload part.

Yeah, if you submit art that is saved as a bitmap image, then the viewer will have to click "download" to view it. But, since it's usually a pain to have to download it, save the image you want to submit as a JPEG. That way, no confusion.
I dun think that helps, though.
You could try to resaze the image as PNG. I don't think they get fuzzy when you do that. Mine don't, atleast.

There's no point to a free port you can't edit. Because then everyone would be walking around with that same port, not being able to mold it to their character. ]:

Plenty of people put up free ports and don't allow editing, why should they. They're nice enough to make it free people should be greatful. If they want something custom they should commish someone, have a friend who is a port artist or make their own port.
And no matter how much they edit it, it's still a freebie port and will still look like someone else's port if they use this. So there is no point in wasting time to edit a freebie, it's still common and generic.

Uh, no. Say that about *miss-mel s free port. o_o I've seen it used a million different ways.
Hah, really? This is the first free port I've seen where you can't edit it. It seems pointless if you can't, unless you used it as a dream port or something I guess. I'm just helping Kit out if she wants people to actually use it and spread her name around, thus getting more commissions. Not everyone has money to commission and their friends may suck at ports lol.

I have seen that freebie a million and a half different ways. I still wouldn't use it for an alt. No matter how you edit it, there is still someone with the SAME port with minor edits. Thus making it unoriginal no matter how many sparkles you put on it.
Unoriginal ports for me, are a waste of a $10 port space. Though free ports work well for dreams. She should submit it on Roamheart too since not everyone who uses Furc has a DA. But if dreams use it and credit her, more people will know who she is.

Well yeah but I'd rather have the same port with minor edits then well...just the same port completely. A lot of people use them as furnarchy free ports, I wouldn't waste ten bucks on it either lol.

If they really really want to edit it, then they can ask for permission. it's like releasing a patch onto Roamheart. You don't really want people to edit it because then it's not 100% your own work. It's still free, and anyone can use it. It's just if somebody edits it all willy-nilly, it's kinda disrespectful and stuff, even more so when you don't ask permission.
Besides, if they have the curteousy(sp?) to ask before they do anything to it, then it's not like I'm going to bite their heads off.
But eh. It's just my opinion.

Patches for roamheart are for people who have a dream and just want a set of ports for their species in the dream. Whereas when you claim a port a "free-port" it's for individuals who like the port and want it for their alt.
I don't see what the deal is, I would love to see others takes on my original free port if I ever made one. But blah, I'll just stop talking.
