w00t for 20 bucks, eh?Anyway... first HDR on the new computer, and first HDR in quite some time... I think this one turned out the best. As always, comments and critique are more than welcome. Advanced critique included.
Thanks for viewin'!

for a HDR there are a lot of blow-out areas. When you tone map try to maintain a level through out the dark areas and the lighter areas, same as the eye sees basically. Just a thought

Thanks for the input, I appreciate it. However, with this piece, I was trying to go for the overblown HDR type look kinda like this [link] I have a few pieces that are a more realistic HDR on my personal website. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to promote it here, but I'll post a link and if it gets flagged, sue me.

:[link] is not a HDR. its a normal photo treated as a HDR. Also there is no blow out as the histogram is evenly balanced. This is one of my personal favorites due to the editing skills by . Please read his early comments he actually states how he accomplished the photo.
Nice photos on the website.

Pardon my annoyance (I got flagged as spam on another photo for something like this), but he says it's HDR, even though it's with one RAW (light smoothing is low, the photo isn't overblown, my bad). Sure, ideally, 3 pictures with varying exposures would be better, but to be quite technical, his stuff is HDR as well. Along with my "Sound Rig," it's just not so high on the light smoothing.
Am I being unclear? Sometimes I confuse myself...

his early comments clearly state that it is not HDR please check. He then gives a description on how he produced a fake HDR from a single image. This is known as LDR, low dynamic range due to the fact that it has not the full dynamic range within the photo its self.
HDR is a darkroom technique where 2 or more photos of varying exposure are mapped upon one another to create an image with greater dynamic range regarding the color and histogram state. whilst LDR is a photomanipulation of the original image where detail is forced out of the original photograph using various techniques or software plugins. There is a huge difference between the two. LDR contains 256 color dynamics at 8 bits or 16 bits per channel whilst HDR contains 4096 color dynamics at 24 or 32 bits per channel.
My specialty is image processing and am currently the assistant for the bio-physics department medical imagery section in the United Arabs Emirates University, I have been hired by them due to my knowledge in this field. So if you need greater detail and a more technical paper on this subject please let me know.

You've got technical papers? I'm all for that. I digress...
Hrm... Maybe I missed it. Stuart - I'm trusting you on this one. I didn't see where he states that it's not an HDR image. I checked three pages, from the beginning of comments, and I saw nothing.
Regardless, his works are astounding. I only said it was HDR because he said it was HDR in the description. Pardon my misunderstanding, will you?

In the following statements the guy basically gives away the fact that it is not a HDR, yet he tries consistantly to say it is without actually saying it is because he knows that the real pro HDR people out there would eat him in seconds because HDR can not be done on a moving object.

he says jpeg in the last statement proving immediately that it is no way HDR as the range of a jpeg is a lossy format based on bitmap compression and has only 256 color range at 8bit per channel RGB.
I have medical orientated tech papers and papers on complex detail enhancement for research.

Fine, you win. I still want to see some complex detail enhancement research papers...
