Description
It’s been a while since I last posted something other than literature, and sorry everyone; it’s been a busy summer! I am quickly approaching my local anime convention and thought I would give Sailor Belyus another go round. I posted an image of him once before, and in reflection everyone was very polite and kind – it sucked! Gotta laugh at myself for his first incarnation. Horrible wig, god aweful white face paint and I chose to go without facial hair…ah, it so could have been better:Link: [link]
Anyway, this time around I chose to do him up a little different, abandoning the white paint, growing out my own hair for a more natural look and I kept the face fuzz – definitely looks much better. While it’s a little away from my vision of Belyus, I can’t say this doesn’t somehow fit just right, so this is how I’ll keep him.
So who is this Belyus fellow, anyway?
Belyus is a sailor soldier, and like Endymion he is a male bearer of a sailor heart crystal. In my first book, I reasoned that Sailor Cosmos split her star seed into a total of six pieces, the ginzuisho of course being the core element. The other five were scattered across the universe, granted to five men to better hide from Sailor Chaos. These are the Sage Stars of Cosmos, who must at some point in the future come together to fuse back into Sailor Cosmos, completing the cycle (and only to run away again back into the past) as alluded to in the Sailor Moon manga.
Additionally, I explained in the first novel that Sailor Chaos (her metaphysical essence) could not on her own power create a physical vessel of her own – to truly bring her powers to bear on the galaxy she would need one of the five Sages of Cosmos to consummate with a Dark Senshi she had merged with to physically be born into our reality. Unfortunately for Belyus, he is the one the agents of Sailor Chaos managed to capture.
Dark Senshi Belyus
Belyus was a master of words, a storyteller of incredible stature and skill. He would weave his tales on sheets of paper made from the bark shed from the Tree of Life on his home planet. These pages had special qualities, and when the stories were read at specific points, miracles were said to happen. The people of his world recognized him as their patron Sailor Soldier, never questioning his masculinity since their world was isolated; they had no idea how rare and unique their champion truly was.
When Chaos attacked his home planet, Belyus did everything he could to save his people, but the foes he fought were to powerful for him to overcome, and he was eventually cornered in the World Tree Citadel. Much to his horror, Sailor Chaos corrupted Belyus and his mind was imprisoned behind a specifically designed mask. His usual uniform changed from a pseudo tuxedo design (like Tuxedo Kamen) of white and green into a red and black motif, matching the colors of Chaos.
The mask, designed to be jester-like (it amused Chaos to send a jester to complete the royal court of Crystal Tokyo) also affects Belyus’s gift of words. Whenever he speaks, he can only speak in limerick and rhyme.
Love Interests
Notice the image of Azama Myuu form PGSM? She plays the role of Sailor Jupiter, who eventually begins to unravel the mystery of Belyus. At some point in battle, Eternal Sailor Jupiter will manage to damage Belyus’s mask, and a portion of his true self manages to surface.
“Be still lady lightning! Be silent thunder dancer! I have for you a question and must know the answer! This sphere where we battle, the place where we fight? Does it hold holy stance? Is it one bathed in light?”
And again:
“Away your soft touch! Away your kind eyes! I’m a villain, your foe, a monster despised! In a time before now, in a world I was free my heart would lend words to the story of you…and me…”
Will Belyus ever find release from his tortured servitude? What is his desperate quest for find a “world bathed in light?” Is Motoko’s blossoming love for the fallen Sage of Cosmos enough to save him? You’ll have to wait until the next book.
Also, remember…there are five Sage Stars. Charon is one, Endymion the other. Belyus is revealed but the reaming two? I look forward to sharing their wonderful and tragic stories with you in Bishojo Senshi Sailor Moon: Tears of Cosmos!
Notes: "Quin" mask and theatrical cosmetics was obtained from a cool website stationed in Bellevue, Washington and was hand crafted by Morgan. Belyus could not have existed without their patient understanding of a thirty-something Sailor Moon fanatic trying to be a cartoon.

Hey now, I think that first picture of Belyus was how I discovered you. But I must agree, the facial hair looks good. Also: Hurray for a Sailor Jupiter love interest! I can't wait to find out who the other Sage Stars are.

I think you'll like the reaming two. One of them has a great character background - I've been developing him for a while. The other is much more vague, and I don't quite know where to take his story just yet.
I really like Jupiter as well, and I wanted to focus on some of the inner senshi in the sequel. I chose Jupiter because I wanted to get pass the 'strong girl' motif inherit with Motoko and develop her romantic side a bit more.
Belyus is a great match for her. He has all the mystery that I find lacking in almost all the previous Sailor Moon villains, save maybe Nephrite, Kunzite Jadeite and Zoicite. I thing the four generals were the most intriguing males in the entire story. The royalty on Nemesis wasn't quite on their level. I also wanted Belyus to be a foe that could be saved - we know what happened to Jadeite in the last story.

Hey bro, aside from me already knowing about the character, you could easily toss yourself in as a decent Dracula.
Cause that setup looks pretty wicked

Thanks bro. Filling in Dracula's shoes would be too big for me to fill, hands down.
Finding a image of Crystal Tokyo is actually really hard!

Thank you very much. I appreciate your kind words. Much better than last year, not as creepy, but more theatrically dark.
