..but I can't use a repeating background for this file, since it has a very special pattern, which I have connected with a larger background, for the website, in which it is inserted.

I created a quick repeating background which is very close to yours with a gradient you can modify which fills the whole site so you wouldn't have to match it up with anything. You just use the load movie script to load the background in. Also this method allows visitors to choose from multiple backgrounds with very small files.

The swf is only 2kb. You don't have to use it of course but if you want you can download the fla/swf/html zip file here. (28kb)

Hmm.. I appreciate the work you've done to illustrate your point, but it doesn't really need to fill less space, since it's already quite small. I don't think it's worth losing the costum look, to save a few kilobytes, if you see what I mean?..

Anyhow, it will probably never be more than a flash test. This is the third thing I've made, since I started using flash, so I don't have a clue how to make it into a real menu, on a real website..
