Just a quick test playing around with multipass rendering of a simple glass rendertree in Softimage XSI, nothing special. DoF and color via powerRetouche/Photoshop.Related content

to me that looks more like the refractional behaviour of water (in this case Ice) than glas, but quite good in any case.

lol and I didn't even get those IoR values right... air is about 1.0 and diamond closer to 2.4 oh well that's what I get for not keeping a table handy.

Yeah it's a very simple implementation of a cheap glass look... I didn't even look up the index of refraction, I just placed it somewhere between air (1.33) and diamond (2.0)... and no frenel or incidence effect like you would see with real glass. Mostly just a test to see how I liked XSI 5.0's ability to break apart an image into certain passes direct from mental ray, and toying around with caustic settings.

yeah I can't remember refraction values either. always have to look up the help file

Thanks It's just fakery, I didn't want to spend the processor time needed to render true depth of field information for such a simple image.

Pretty neat looking, although they almost have an "ice cube" look, as they appear to be "wet". Although that could just be cause I've never seen cubed glass like that before . Nice job, I could've sworn it was a photo before I read the description.
