Description After seeing ~Ceekay88 and ~inquisitorC photos of waterfalls they took recently, and a few other photographs on the web, I thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to go out to the Dean Village (part of Edinburgh), down the Water of Leith, and finally use my IR filter for something. So with long exposure (10 seconds) I managed to get some alright water pics. However, i must have been moving slightly or the wind caught the tripod, as the stones were not too sharp, so that was tweaked as much as possible in photoshop.

In response to =Crash1-TK (Tuesday 11th July 2006 - 5.30 AM)
I see no way that even though I used the same technique as ~Ceekay88 and ~inquisitorC , as well as other photographers which I have seen here, that I am in any way copying in sense of theme and location. Although as I have found, that I have shot relativly near their own location, I see no relation to the waterfall seen on their images and the waterfall on my own.

Yes, the technique was the same but the way it has been photographed is very much different.

I am sorry that this deviation has caused you so much distress but that does not require such profane comments about my social life, pasttimes or sexual preferences. Please be aware that this incident has been reported.

Very pretty. Looks quite unreal like a panting or something with the soft tone...

Its a pretty cool shot craig i like your scene is totally different from mine... You used a totally different angle. which i think works really well and you used black and white.... a whole different medium even. I think its good you were inspired by our work to go out and take these photos and thanks for putting in a link to my dA We all live in the same spaces and we can only photograph whats around us so inevitably theres going to be some overlap... but you put a whole different angle on your shot (quite literally heh heh) the only thing that wasnt good was a slight unsharpness and the trees in the background were blown out i would say crop them out but they add to the image.. so good luck if your going to reshoot

Dude,
why did you have to copy them? at least find your own spot like the botanics or something.

As for the photo, it's alright although the trees in the bg are way to over exposed. I don't really see anything in this picture, I mean there is not really a subject just the same repeatetive (sp) rocks and water....

First, being inspired dosen't mean that I have copied them - I just decided that it was a good idea and I had been looking for something to photograph with my IR filter. Do you think that just because a similar theme was photographed in the past, anybody else who came along was copying the previous photographer?

Second, I was not in the same spot as them - as I did not even know where they were shooting, and still don't know. If your bro said that they went to the Dean I wouldn't have went, but he didn't tell me. I just went off down the water of leith looking for somewhere interesting.

First, on his photo you asked if it was the Dean Village and yes, it was.
Second, stfu about your IR filter does anyone care?
Third, inspiring yes but shooting at the same place, the same thing, even the same shutter speed lol try being more "creative" instead of using your inspiration to copy things use it by adding more to it or creating a whole new theme.
Fourth, get your spelling correct, spell checker gone crazy?
Fifth, do you really think anyone cares about your excuses or any at all? The fact is, I'm telling you that you copied them by shooting the same subject, the same water effect, the same place, the same technique the same thing

So, shh.. that's what I think, I don't think you can change my opinion. Go away and play with your warhammer40k and enjoy the club on dA!!!!

oh dearie! everybody look at the guy who's got EVERYTHING wrong.

If they beleive this, then they can go and ask me to remove it. I don't care. I admire you sticking up for your bro but here's a few things for you.

* I asked your bro where he shot, and he didn't reply. I took a wild guess and went out myself around Edinburgh today. This was not the only place I travelled and just because I was in a place which was suprisingly near, then I'm sorry I didn't know at the time.
* Yes, I did photograph the same sort of thing as they were, but does that mean that I was copying these people too? I added their names to my description as I was aware that they had taken shots using the same technique recently and I don't feel bad promoting other artists in dA.

* I don't think I was cheesing about having an IR filter. I've heard more cheesing off from you going "ooohh look at me.. i've got a brand new 350d."
* I think that there is quite a difference between 1/8 second and 10 seconds. I could be wrong - I haven't taken my matematics doctorate yet.
* I'm dyslexic. If you want to laugh my spelling that then you are a really sad boy. Go off and play with your little toys.

You seem to have way too much time on your hands. Go on, go off any play...

And something for ~Ceekay88 and ~inquisitorC . If you beleive that this is offending you, as it has Theo, you can ask me to remove it. I will not be offended.

nice! verey nice

i see what you mean about the cammera moving slightly and rocks being slightly blury, they would look much more striking if they were as sharp as hell!
and by that i mean real sharp!

great pic though, the water looks great as it flows down stream tip toeing over the rocks.

n.b. the first rock looks painted, not that that's a bad thing

A+ for effort! keep up the good work and 1337n355 will be yours!

This is very nice. At first, I wasn't sure if it was some kind of graphic, or if it was a photo. I'd like to see a full version turned into a desktop of some kind. *thumbs up*
