Description
Mark Twain once said: "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog." But he wasn't a dog and he never took it upon himself to fight people five times his size, so he had absolutely no idea what he was talking about. The moustachioed nit.Omega the folf (a cross between a fox and a wolf, don'cha know) is a boxer with an unfortunate habit of challenging opponents vastly larger than himself, a habit which frequently results in him getting royally thumped. This illo finds the unfortunate canine in his corner feeling the effects of just such a thumping. I don't know who his opponent is, but I think we can safely say it's someone who will very shortly be arranging for Omega to end the bout horizontally.
Colouring this image was quite an education – I picked up several handy Photoshop tricks along the way, and getting all the gradient effects to work properly was immensely satisfying. Omega's a fun character to work with, too – there's something curiously endearing about pluckily determined underdogs who throw themselves continually into mangling danger and refuse to learn from their mistakes, hence the enduring appeal of Goofy, Wile E Coyote and the seemingly endless supply of henchmen in James Bond movies.
Omegafolf , the excellent fellow who commissioned this piece, is (astoundingly obviously) the creator of the character depicted here. Anyone infringing his copyright will be subject to a smack in the gob by whoever it is that's been hitting him.

He's definitely going to need a few sticking plasters after this bout.

Cheers! And I agree, it'd be interesting to find out who his opponent was. I'm guessing some variety of freight train.

You're most welcome. I'm delighted it proved pleasing! (And blimey, this reply has been a long time coming. I really must remember to set my alarm clock more carefully.)

You could well be right, there – he's fought both bears and tigers in his time, and he's generally ended those bouts in a state of unconsciousness.

For some reason those ankle braces along with his feet really seem to catch my eye. I think its the black and red plus, they look beastly. THAT equals awesomeness
SUPERB colouring work Matt! Great commission

I'm not sure he can, actually. But hey, there's no harm in cheering him on - I dare say he could do with the support!

Awesome work, man. The gradients are seemless. It looks really good. Of course you knew that already...
Regardless, well done!

He's definitely not doing terribly well here. Such are the risks of picking fights with people several miles above your own weight class.

I like this one, specially because you can make shading in a simple and yet pleasant way.
And the gradients are really well used there.
