Very nice sprites! But they do look more like fusions than ancestors. This is how we did most ancestors in the past, but I would like to start going in the direction of making ancestors look more like their own individual species in most cases. But the sprites you made could be ancestors of Krelp and just cousins to Horsea, perhaps.
