So this is kind of funny. For my hard surface modeling class, we were given this assignment after completing the major project of the term as a sort of "cool down" project. We had to do a high detail model of a piece of sports equipment. I was really burnt out from doing a full character model with clothes and other gear so I chose a baseball bat since it was the easiest thing I could think of and yet it presented it's own challenges. The bat tape, which sadly you can barely see, was intense on this model. I not only modeled it to smooth but made a normal map in Zbrush for the bumps, something I'm not very used to and something that really wasn't required but that I really wanted to try. Anyway I think it's just fun so I thought I'd throw it up here. We had to render it for print so the original image is huge.
