Finally! I started this one almost a year ago, but had to report it several times for multiple reasons.The main reason is that i was looking for the perfect model. Finally Angeldust (previously featured on "Shanghai Love Birds") ended up on this at the last minute, and she's great as always!
In a way, it's kind of a tribute to Miyazaki, who inspired me so much when i was a child. And this giant Rat would not exist without Totoro.
It was pretty fun! The giant rat is mainly made from my cat. But no animal were harmed.
No others stocks from mine were used.

I love the giant rat it's just so awesome. The "Fifty Shades of Yellow" was a nice touch, I figure it's for the yellow tint.

So my guess is Digital Camera, then PhotoShop... The 3D ? (Maya, SoftImage, 3D-Max)

But still, what 3D software are you using?
I stopped using Softimage & 3D Max, got tired of the problems of their key-thing and not being able to install my paid-for softwares on my new computers...
I downloaded Blender, a free modeling & animation software. It's a tough one, still trying to make something with it...

We use C4D at my work, so i used this program. Very easy to use and easilly allows to multiply books, randomise size etc. But it was just few renders and then got back to the photoshop thing. Blender is a nice concept but i've never met any pros using it very much for the moment.

I don't get much of a Miyazaki vibe, but there is a whimsical feel with all of the warm tones underneath the yellow overcoat. I love that mouse on top... looks like he's reciting Hamlet ;3
Just a note, I think the model's faceΒ and clothing could blend in a bit more with her surroundings. She looks a bit dull and discolored compared to the rats. Just something that distracted me; other than that, love it

Aside from the wonderful subject matter, I like your choice of colors. It's warm and cozy, but the autumn leaves also makes me think of the end of the year, with life winding down and settling in for a nice long nap through winter (with a few good books to pass the time).
