Description

Chun-Li is one of the characters I've drawn since I started posting my art on Deviantart, in 2012. Thought I'd put together a Draw This Again meme to show the development of how I draw her, and showing how my general art techniques developed. While not the exact same composition, that's okay. Time and experience changes how I pose characters, and how I create the overall composition of my art as well. The pieces both feature Chun-Li wearing a similar dress with her hair down!

We all have to start somewhere. I was still very much a green artist back then, and it shows. My shading and linework was so faint, but I think the more I practiced, the more I built up confidence. I also garnered a much better understanding of human anatomy, facial structure, how hair flows, etc. I'm self-taught so this all came through observation, analysis, and practice. I also wasn't really using color back then, but I think it's better to start with grayscale, because that really helps train your eye to understanding values, contrast, etc. Most importantly, not giving up on drawing on the days when things weren't going so well!
