I photographed this beetle almost a month ago, I don't have anything recent, because I wasn't doing any shooting expeditions and that's driving me a bit crazy.

Anyway, it's carrion beetle Ablattaria laevigata, that despite it name feeds on snails. It's another uncommon species, found only in handful of places and as a result of that, it's got place on the Red list of invertebrates of Czech republic. And there's a funny story that goes along with this picture, I found this guy just casually crossing a biker path, so I was not only shooting it but also shielding it from bikers and there was one guy, that was telling on what I was doing to the other bikers behind him and he was talking it up saying "that I'm definitely shooting a stag beetle", which was immediately followed by what would roughly translate into "oh, he's just shooting some tiny bugger", it was hilarious. Especially since this "tiny bugger" is significantly rarer than the stag beetle, but of course nowhere near as attractive, because it's smaller.

And after I was done with it, I placed it on a grass way off the biker path, where it disappeared.
