Animated tentacles created procedurally in houdini, exported via fbx to maya, silly resample. Film plate tracked in matchmover in this version, PFTrack in the longer version that may replace this shortly. Comped in after effects.

thought I'd share, kinda giddy about it because this isn't the type of work I typically do. It'll be a little different when it's finished, just a slap composite at the moment but I'm psyched to get everything working together and it was a pain to track such a low resolution, auto white balanced, auto focused sequence. I wasn't allowed to 2D track the footage, had to 3D track, even though the camera's vantage would have made 2D work. It still needs environment shadows and the reflections in the windows behind it worked on. It's hard to motivate yourself to work on the subtleties of such shyte plate footage tho.. super low resolution, rolling shutter warping like crazy. I really must invest in a canon 5D or 7D. Anyone want to buy a slightly used soul?

I may also offer the alien squid model (with undulating tentacles) as a 3D model stock resource, so let me know if that's something you'd be interested in and I'll get on it.
