My entry for the Radical Racer contest

Character: Erika Solberg, Age 27, from Sweden. She's always been into racing, ever since she was a little kid. Initially it was mostly skiing, but later on she switched to motorcycle races. After a terrible accident ended her racing career, she studied engineering and got interested in renewable energy sources and environmental activism. When she heared about an freestyle off-road race around the globe, where all kinds of vehicles are allowed as long as you built them youself, she knew she had to be in it ... and she's in it to win it - not only because she missed racing, but also to show what can be done with renewable energies.

Transportation: A skateboard / windsurfing board hybrid. It also has solar panels on the sail, the energy generated by them can be stored in a battery for later use - or extra speed boost.

Lucky Charm: The first prize she ever won - a scarf she won at the kid's skiing cup organized by her hometown's skiing club. She wore it at every race since for good luck.

Special trick: Wheels and axles of her board are retractable such that she can use her board for windsurfing - which allows her to make shortcuts across waters and get ahead of other competitors.
