Description
Decided to make this stamp for the former CN animator who worked with Genndy on Dexter's Lab, who'd later create a cute short miniseries about a little girl and a vampire's friendship and my all time favourite animated female robot (and her shapeshifting insectoid nemesis) (Yes I love XJ9 more than McCracken's 3 little bug eyed girls and that says a LOT cause I do like the 1998 PPG a LOT as it was my second fave CN show...though PPG fans I feel need to realise that their classic show isn't perfect either (I KNOW Teenage Robot had some inconsistent and stupid plot points and mean spirited parts at times, but so did PPG (Moral Decay and Sweet and Sour anyone?)- fans need to realise that. Plus if you question Jenny's ability to have many things stored in her, TV tropes says Hi- there is a trope called the 'Do anything bot', which many cartoon robots have. Plus the whole point of her using that trope (as well as the other robots- mainly the ones on Cluster Prime) was referencing the 1920s/1930s style animation where stylized toons had strange things appearing out of thin air. In fact a LOT of that toon references the 1920s/1930s sci-fi- from its art decor style to even references to retro toons and the pie-eye style.)).In addition he did a short about a little girl magician (Magic Trixie) and an X files parody about fairytales (The F tales).
Sad thing is? His cartoons are now only remembered for........inappropriate adult fanart (don't get me started on the creepy art of Mina and the Count I've come across) and p**n parodies (I'm not kidding- I heard they recently did one of MLAATR and it was NOT pretty)....sigh. If only if I'm not one of the few fans who likes his work and characters for what they are and not the questionable art and such....but the good news? There is a channel dedicated to MLAATR and some of the scenes and art behind the show: My Life as a Teenage Robot Fanbase - YouTube
While yes, I don't think he's as underrated as before (especially since the Teenage Robot fanbase has grown from what I've noticed and Mina and the Count has gained a following), I still feel he's in the shadow of Craig McCracken and Genndy Tartakovsky. He needs a LOT more love.
Sure, Rezentti may not be well remembered as Tartakovsky or McCracken (who are also awesome and inspiring cartoonists in their own right - especially since I feel Samurai Jack was Tartakovsky's Magnum Opus and McCracken's Wander over Yonder needs more love (HECK I feel that Wonder Over Yonder is the Teenage Robot of the 2010s!), but I feel that he has a niche of his own and is one of my personal favourite inspiring cartoonists. If only his artbook for Teenage Robot was available in Australia, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
Fave this stamp if you are a fan of Renzetti
