Pumbacrochet, handmade in April 2008
made this one for my boyfriend 'mijn Kuusjke'.
I am thinking about making Timon too - but I'm afraid it would be too small to fit with this Pumba.

I was wondering how you crocheted such great definition. Is it all a couple big pieces or is it a lot of small pieces? Great definition like this is hard to do in crochet. How do you manage?

Most of my crochetworks are made with one bigger base (body) and the small parts like the arms and legs are later crocheted and stitched on it.
Because they are very small it is hard to crochet the small parts in the body so I make them afterwards.
I do try to shape the body while crocheting.

So how do you get the definition in like pumbas cheeks? Do you like increase or use a bigger stitch?

I make several stiches in one hole and in the next row under it as well. Then I drop some stiches in the row under it.
I don't work with patterns so I can't tell you exactly anymore how I did that on Pumba. I just try out and make it up while I am crocheting. I don't know how to write down or read patterns.
