Amethyst was still wide awake that night, sitting on her bed with her knees to her chest. Honestly, today is one of the best days of her life. This was a day that she wants to cherish forever and will hopefully be forever in her memories. There was a few things that she kept replaying in her mind and at each one, she couldn't stop smiling. Especially that one special moment.

But a few moments later is something Amethyst is still thinking about to this moment. A certain moment that she doesn't know if she made the right choice or not, more specifically, a choice that she may or may not regret. That conversation suddenly kept appearing in her head, blocking out the good ones.

~*~Flashback~*~

Amethyst and Taehyun were silent for a moment, thinking about what just happened between them. Honestly, the atmosphere wasn't awkward, it's just the fact neither of them know what to say. It was like a 'dot dot dot' moment. Though, after looking at each other, the both smiled shyly then broke into laughter.

"I can honestly say that I didn't expect that..." Taehyun finally said something.

"Best birthday present ever?" Amethyst asked, saying the first thing that came to her mind.

"Spending my birthday with my best friend is the best birthday present ever."

Amethyst blushed slightly. Then it grew quiet again. It still wasn't awkward, but it was a more questionable silence. They both knew exactly what they're thinking about, but bringing it up was hard. One of them is going to say it sooner or later, and it's better to just talk about it now.

"What happens now?" Amethyst broke the silence.

"I think you know what I'm thinking..." Taehyun said, having a slight bad feeling about it.

Amethyst didn't say anything right away. She was thinking about what's going to happen later on. In her life, in Taehyun's life. No one knows what will happen. Plus, it's only been a few months. She sighed deeply.

"I don't think so..." it was honestly hard for Amethyst to say that out loud. "I like you, but-"

"But you don't like me?" Taehyun jumped ahead.

"No, Taehyun. Listen to me, please. I like you. A lot." Amethyst wanted her friend to completely understand what she's about to say. "I'm just thinking ahead. You have to think first and foremost, we only know each other for a few months. Second, I'm just thinking...if we do...you know...become a couple...what will happen in a few months from now? You know...what will happen once you graduate? I have one more year of school. Plus, I'll be busy with studies, you'll be busy with work."

"That doesn't mean we won't see each other-"

"Taehyun..." this is becoming harder for Amethyst. "I'm...I'm just thinking ahead. I'm thinking for what may be better for us. Don't you think it will be better after I graduate myself? Do you think it would be better if we were friends for a little longer and then maybe........" Amethyst's voice trailed off. She doesn't want to think about it anymore.

"But you do like me, right?" Taehyun said.

"Yes." Amethyst said. "But I don't think we should...at least not right-"

Taehyun put his finger to her lips to stop her from speaking. "I understand."

"I didn't want to hurt you like this..."

"What are you talking about, Ame?"

Amethyst looked at Taehyun, he seems fine. No, the key is his eyes. But even when she looked at him in the eye, he truly seemed fine. Taehyun smiled, knowing what Amethyst was thinking about.

"Ame, I understand, really. Honestly, I agree with you. The more I think about it, the more I realize that things are going to change soon. Plus, you, my friend, have a dream to achieve."

Amethyst smiled. "You'll still be there to support me right?"

"You know it. Actually, I'll be there for anything that has to do with my best friend. I care about you." Taehyun pulled Amethyst into a hug. "And I guard your heart, remember?"

Amethyst is glad that nothing in their friendship changed, at least not in a negative way. Also for a fact that Taehyun understands her ideas for the future. Honestly, who knows what happens? A lot could change in a few months for all she knows. But she doesn't want to know what happens, she wants it to be a surprise. But Amethyst is glad she can appreciate this friendship she has with Taehyun a little longer.

Amethyst phone made a sound, which scared her out of her mind. She looked at the message, of course from Taehyun.

Amethyst replied, then quickly got answer back.

It was best birthday really, thank you for everything. And for still being my friend.

What does he mean by 'still?' Did...did he think they weren't going to be friends anymore? That's something to ask later. Amethyst didn't want to end up ruining her friend's birthday. But she's really curious now.
