Description The last couple days, Amethyst couldn't stop thinking about the wonderful day that is Taehyun's birthday. The whole day overall was amazing, and she's glad that Taehyun thought the same. Due to these events replaying in her thoughts, she barely paid attention in psychology class. She will eventually catch herself and get back to paying attention to her work. Eunmi noticed that Amethyst is acting a bit different and tapped her desk.

"Ami."

Eunmi, who usually speaks softly, spoke a little louder than usual to get Amethyst's attention. Amethyst became startled, then looked at her friend.

"Hi, Eunmi."

"What are you thinking about? You're acting a little different. Actually..." Eunmi studied Amethyst's facial expression. "You're acting different now than a few seconds ago. What's going on?"

Amethyst sighed, deciding to only tell Eunmi what she's currently thinking. "I think there was a point in time that Taehyun thought I wouldn't be his friend anymore."

"Really?"

Amethyst nodded. "I don't know why honestly...I'm going to talk to him about it after class."

Eunmi tapped her fingers on Amethyst's desk while thinking. "Well, you were mean to Taehyun for a while. Maybe because you two are friends now, he might be afraid that everything might repeat itself. I agree, you should definitely talk to him."

Class was dismissed for the day, and Eunmi wished Amethyst luck by saying 'fighting!' before she left first. Amethyst gathered her things quickly, knowing that Taehyun is usually already waiting for her for a few minutes until her class ends. Amethyst was right, as soon as she left the classroom, her friend was waiting for her.

"Hi~." Taehyun said happily.

"Hi wonderful friend of mine." Amethyst smiled afterward.

The two began walking to the school cafe where they usually spend time for a few minutes until Taehyun leaves for his next class. This amount of time they have doesn't sound too bad to bring up the topic Amethyst has been curious about.

"Taehyun?"

"Ne, Ame?"

"One of your text messages you sent back on Saturday night got me thinking about something....the one where you said 'thank you for still being my friend.'"

"Oh...what about it?"

"Tae...was there a point in time that you believed we wouldn't be friends anymore?" Amethyst asked.

Taehyun sighed. He should have known this would have been brought up. He wouldn't mind speaking what's on his mind, but not right now at school.

"Can we talk about it after school?"

"Oh...okay. Sure." Amethyst respected her friend's decision.

Like that, the topic was dropped and the two moved on to talk about something else.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After school, the two friends met up at one of the courtyards on campus. They both sat at one of the benches, starting with a very basic conversation, then stayed silent for moment. Taehyun was honestly nervous about it, though he tried to not show it. Amethyst took a moment before asking the same question earlier.
"So, you said something along the lines of 'thank you for still being my friend.' And I was confused. So I wondered, was there a time that you believed that we would be friends anymore?"
Taehyun took his time to respond, but eventually he nodded. It was silent for a moment, until Taehyun decided to speak this time. "I thought you wouldn't want to be my friend anymore."
Amethyst is still confused, but tried to solve it with asking another question. "When did you think this?"
"On my birthday."
Amethyst was surprised. So it was something that happened on Taehyun's birthday that made him think like this. She started to think that she did something wrong, but before she could get ahead of herself, she asked another question.
"What made you think such a thing?"
Taehyun sighed. "When I told you that I have a crush on you."
"But Tae...I already knew. I figured it out and I'm still here."
"No, I mean..." Taehyun stopped for a moment, feeling a little emotional over something this small. "I meant when I told you that I was falling for you. Which to some people, is a totally different meaning than just having a 'crush.'"
"So that's what it is..." Amethyst put it all together.
"I'm scared, Amethyst. I know everything is okay, but a part of me wants to continue thinking otherwise. I don't want things to go back to what they used to be and for you to hate me. We basically just became friends and I'm not ready to lose you. I don't want my best friend to go against me."
"I have no reason to hate you or to go against you. I'm still here, am I?" Amethyst said.
"Yes but..." Taehyun's voice trailed off.
Amethyst wanted to know what he needed to say. "But...?"
"But a part of me feels like things are going to change..."
"Like?"
"Like...like we won't be close anymore and then I don't know...just dissolve?"
Amethyst began to hurt that such a thing is bothering Taehyun. She never thought any different of him, especially not after he confessed. She eventually confessed back, right? And they both agreed to stay as friends for now, right? Why is this bothering him then? She doesn't know, but she needs Taehyun to know that she's not going anywhere.
"I'm still here, Tae. I don't think any different of you and I'm not going anywhere."
"I just need to know whether or not things are going to change."
Amethyst sighed. "I'm not going anywhere. I don't hate you. I won't go back to the way I was treating you in the past. I won't be like that again. You and I are best friends and it will stay like that. Nothing's changing."
Amethyst hugged her friend to prove it. Taehyun hugged her back instantly, but it was almost like he was holding onto her for dear life. Amethyst felt worse than what she already felt, and couldn't help but to hug a little bit tighter, and reminded Taehyun that nothing is going to change between them.
