Amethyst and Taehyun started their day by texting each other. Actually, Taehyun sent that message a few hours ago, but Amethyst didn't hear it since she slept in until almost noon. When Amethyst read it, she knew exactly what day it was, but she decided to play around with him.

Umm...it's Saturday and we're doing a duet later.

Amethyst giggled to herself, waiting for her friend's reply. After a few minutes, she got a new text.

...You're so mean...

Amethyst doesn't know if he was being serious or playing along with her. She giggled again when she answered, making another well known joke.

I'm just kidding! Happy 3rd birthday!

That's cute...okay, I'll accept that! Was Taehyun's reply back.

Amethyst probably laughed a lot harder than she should have been right now. Yeah, Taehyun is still that little kid Amethyst knows. But she's way more excited than how she is acting right now. She has an amazing present for Taehyun after they're finished with their duet later on. Speaking of the duet, she remembered when they first sung it together, how they ended up so close to each other without knowing. She wondered if it was going to happen again when they perform this song in front of many people. She shook her head to erase the thought out of her mind. Then something else came up, she wants to do a little something before their duet, and decided to ask Taehyun about it.

Can I treat you to something before our performance?

Amethyst laughed again. Taehyun is forever a kid. She replied back saying she'd be more than happy to take them somewhere for some ice cream. Honestly, this day has already been great. But it will be even better for Taehyun later on.

"Is there anyone who would like to perform next?" a guy said on stage, right when Taehyun and Amethyst walked in this cafe, the same cafe Amethyst performed at a while ago.

"Great! Let's go now!" Taehyun pulled Amethyst by the wrist, trying to drag her to the stage.

"Wae?!" Amethyst said in surprise. "We just got here!"

"But we came at a perfect time! Let's go now!"

Amethyst knew that she couldn't convince Taehyun to wait until the next time someone can perform. Plus, they just had ice cream a little while ago, and she knew that Taehyun was most likely going crazy over sugar, so she just went with it. Amethyst kept quiet while Taehyun did all the talking before going on with their duet. But the Amethyst must be really out of it because Taehyun already started singing. But she also noticed that instead of looking at the small audience, he was looking at her.

By the time they both got to that part of the song, the thing that happened between them a few weeks ago started to happen again right at this moment. And before they knew it, the song was over. It seemed like it ended so fast. But right now, everything just seems so right. The two friends are, again, standing close to each other. But this time, their free hands are intertwined with each others. The guy who was on stage earlier said something about a ton of chemistry was shown during the duet, but neither Taehyun or Amethyst were aware of it. Hearing that made both of them back up from each other a little bit, both turning a little pink in the cheeks. They both said thank you and got off the stage.

Amethyst then pulled Taehyun's arm, and made their way out of door.

"Wh-where are we going?" Taehyun wondered why Amethyst seemed like she's in a hurry.

"You'll see." Amethyst smiled.

She continued to rush down the sidewalk, dragging Taehyun with her. After about ten minutes of fast paced walking, Amethyst stopped them in front of a fancy Italian restaurant. Taehyun was confused.

"Why are we here?"

"This is my surprise for your birthday." Amethyst said. "I wanted to treat you to something nice."

"Waaaaah!" Taehyun was surprised. "Thank you! But...but...you want to go like this?"

Taehyun was referring to the way they were dressed. Taehyun's famous style that Amethyst likes a lot, and Amethyst tried to dress as close to the same style as possible. Amethyst thought for a moment. They already had to go their homes and change once already after they had ice cream. But for a restaurant like this, Amethyst did start to have second thoughts. They decided to meet each other back here in an hour, and went their separate ways. Meanwhile, Amethyst started to smile to herself.

He has no idea what's coming.

"You look like you're about to cry. You know that it will hurt me if you cry. What's going on?"

"Don't lie to me." Amethyst said. She knew that Taehyun was going to deny it.

"Nothing is wrong." A whole lot is wrong. And they all connect to me being in love with you. Taehyun thought. You are giving me the best birthday ever and I can't even say I love you... "I guess I'm just a little...down..today. I know it's my birthday and all...but...I feel like I don't deserve this. There's nothing special about me."

Amethyst looked at the table, then looked back at her friend. She moved her legs to the seat to sit on her knees and inched her way a little closer to Taehyun, grabbing his shoulders.

"Taehyun, you are an amazing, warmhearted person. You're amazing in every way and you are special. You shouldn't be so hard on yourself."

Taehyun didn't know what to say. "Oh...okay..."

Amethyst then sighed, backing up a little. "Today is not over yet."

"Hmmm?" Taehyun said, then became confused because Amethyst got up and walked to this little area that seemed to have a piano.

"Yoryeobun." Amethyst said. "Annyeonghaseyo. Amethyst imnida. Today is my best friend's birthday." Amethyst took a moment, and politely pointed towards Taehyun. Taehyun turned slightly pink in the cheeks when people started to look at him. "Today, I would like to play a song for him as his birthday present. It's a song that I've been writing for a week and I tried to make it perfect for him. I hope you enjoy."

Amethyst took a seat by the piano, and spoke into the microphone that's set up on it. "This song is called One."

Amethyst started to play the piano, and she started to sing the song, the song was in Korean.

Everyone clapped, looking at Taehyun again. Without knowing, his tears was slipping from his eyes, honestly touched by what his friend has done. Amethyst came back to their seat, pulled Taehyun up and hugged him tightly.

"Happy twenty-third birthday, Taehyun." Amethyst said. "I have one more thing actually."

Amethyst pulled away from the hug first, and looked at her friend. "Let's go look at the stars. If we see a shooting star, you can make a wish."

Taehyun couldn't handle Amethyst's kindness anymore. He nodded and they both left the restaurant for the night.

"What's wrong, Tae?"

"Hmm? I'm fine." Taehyun said, trying to hide what's wrong again.

"I don't buy it, Taehyun." Amethyst stopped in her tracks and pulled her friend to stop him from walking. "What's wrong? What's bothering you on your special day?"

Taehyun didn't respond right away, in fact, he looked a little nervous. Amethyst grew only more and more concerned the longer it has been quiet.

"Taehyun...what is it? What do you want to say?"

Taehyun still didn't respond right away, but he did started to think that Amethyst deserve to know. He sighed before speaking.

"Friday...I heard what you and Eunmi were talking about."

"Aah. Is that what's bothering you?" Amethyst sounded like she didn't mind. "It's okay. It was just some weird question, but it was a general question. I don't even know why she asked it. It was kind of weird. Why? Why is it bothering you?"

Taehyun's heart started to pick up the pace. He is at war between two things: Tell her or not? He doesn't know. The first time he tried to tell her, she took it the wrong way and only thought of it as 'friends.' Also, this thing could make or break their friendship, and that's the last thing Taehyun wants. Amethyst, on the other hand, only grew more confused and concerned.

"What is it, Tae? Why does such a silly conversation bother you?"

"I...uh..." Taehyun started to speak. He thought about starting off slow. "I just wanted to know who you were talking about at the end of the conversation."

"Aah...no one really." Amethyst lied. "Why does that bother you?"

"I...." Taehyun can't escape out of it now, it's his fault that he started talking about it. "I....I have a crush on you."

Amethyst was in a little shock, but then again, it didn't really surprise her. "Oh....I kind of figured that out already..."

"R-really?" Taehyun felt himself turn red.

"Yeah...those days you...uh...kissed me..." Amethyst started to feel nervous also. "I kind of...figured...unless I'm wrong?"

Taehyun feels embarrassed. "No...no...you're not..."

But that's not one hundred percent of how Taehyun feels. It's much more than just a crush, and since he's talking about it now, he might as well keep talking about it. This is the part that may or may not break them apart.

"But Amethyst..." he grabbed her wrists and pulled her a bit closer. "What I'm feeling...it's not just a crush. It's...it's much deeper than that. It's way more than just a crush. Amethyst...I think I'm falling in love with you...very hard..."

Amethyst then became surprised. She shouldn't be, but she is. She started to think about how she truly feels for Taehyun. The quietness is starting to feel a little awkward, at least to Taehyun. Usually, long periods of silence is not a good thing. Amethyst thought about a lot of things, mainly about her own feelings but also other things too. The silence is not making anything better for Taehyun and he automatically thought this was going to change a lot of things. Amethyst sighed, which he thought was not good. Amethyst looked at him, then grabbed his shoulders, but then looked down again, thinking some more.

...I guess it was wrong to say something...Taehyun started hurting, then thought way too ahead of himself. "Amethyst, if you don't feel the same way, you can just say it. It will save both of us from a lot of hurt to just say it than keeping quiet."

Amethyst, still looking down, made up her mind. She looked back up at her friend, still not saying a word about the situation. Instead, she pulled gently on his sweater to bring him closer, and leaned up to kiss him.

Taehyun's eyes grew wide and felt like his heart was about to explode, this was too unexpected for him, especially since he jumped to conclusions. Plus, this was not how he kissed Amethyst those couple of times. It was like an actual full on kiss, like how a first kiss is suppose to be. Slow and gentle, but sweet. It didn't take long for Taehyun to relax, shutting his eyes and kiss her back, wrapping his arms around her and pulled her closer.

Amethyst was thinking the whole time, but it was positive thinking. And when she felt Taehyun pull her close and kiss her back, it couldn't be any better. She liked how this was happening, especially under the starry sky. It's also happening on Taehyun's birthday, so she wondered if this is like an unexpected present to Taehyun. But then, she thought back to what's happening right now. Their real first kiss. And only one thought stuck to Amethyst like it has been for a while now.

I can definitely see myself happy.
