My attempt to draw a scene from one of my favorite chapters in Gaston Leroux's "The Phantom of the Opera". I always felt like Erik wasn't quite prepared for Christine to faint, but also not too terribly surprised that she did. So this is my version of the faint.

I gave Erik a little more hair than I usually do...I drew many a sketch trying to figure out if I wanted him in a hat or not, and once I figured out that I didn't didn't, I then had to figure out how I wanted his hair to look. I simply felt inclined to give him a little more hair. And poor Erik, on top of being mentally unstable, living with memories of a horrible past, and being terribly ugly (sorry Erik), he's also going bald. Leroux, I love you, but you really gave this wonderful character of yours a lot of crap to deal with. xD

Also this is the first time I have successfully drawn Erik in a mask...and Christine is still in her costume from the Opera. I can't remember what opera they were doing in that scene...was it Faust?

I had a lot of fun drawing this. It took about 3 days off and on. Lots of sketching, then the inking, the coloring, then highlighting using a white gel pen (I am in LOVE with that thing). This was done in micron pen, copic and prismacolor marker, colored pencil, white gel pen, and blending marker. Enjoy!
