Description
Though I will follow nothing else,I will follow you.
I have disdain for your rebellion,
Yet I cannot disdain you.
Your eyes pierce me with disappointment;
Yet they only give me sweet unrest.
I perceive in my heart an emotion
That is higher and purer
Than admiration and fascination.
I have disdain for all,
Save for your voice and eyes which speak
Of truth that I cannot hold.
I have come to understand the light
Which illuminates my soul.
You are the light in the darkness of my being.
I am whole and broken at once.
Where has my solitude alighted,
That I might crawl back
Into the cursed and dark sanctuary
Of my own destruction?
To hide my shame, I drown myself
Further in destitution.
Yet even now, I cannot fully escape
The passion of your spirit;
For with each sip of wine, your voice resounds,
Bringing pain and love to my soul.
Though I disdain everything else,
I will follow you,
Even when only the pain of longing
Your presence brings;
Please fathom that it is my very spirit
You alone unknowingly hold.
I will follow your eyes, voice, and spirit
To the ends of the earth...
If you permit it.
