This is for Interfaith Tolerance Contest held by
I made them cooperated in making huge colorful heart in a wall and promote interfaith tolerance contest by glued posters everywhere. I made it as colorful heart because I want to show that integration is like a rainbow, the difference of color make it beauty.
"I love red best from all color that exist in this world," "and I love green than red," "I think all colors are beautiful, but I love blue so far" "even so, we all agree that all colors together will be far more beautiful than our favorite color stands alone"
Each child represents a religion, as my habit, I cannot draw randomly, I always do research first. Thanks to this contest, I finally study about various believes that I never heard before.
• Taoism: A Boy with Yin Yan symbol. The idea of his clothes color I got from South Korean Flag
• Sikh: His head accessory I was inspired from Malaysian 3D cartoon titled ‘Upin and Ipin’, here, Jarjit Singh profile.ak.fbcdn.net/hprofile-… . Sikh is religion from India which mostly exist in Malaysia and India (of course) the real one: www.nationalartsprogram.org/si…
• Shinto: My resources said that Shinto is the oldest religion that still exist until now. I represent it in Miko dress (red and white kimono that sometimes you will see in some Anime/Manga) www.nationalartsprogram.org/si…
• Hindu: I asked my Hindu teacher about identical color of Hindu, she said white and yellow. So I understand why Balinese always use white-yellow outfit cache2.allpostersimages.com/p/…
• Atheist: A boy with purple/violet t-shirt, I made him because atheist (and also agonist, secular, etc) in my resources, the amount is 850 millions, placed in 4th biggest belief after Hindu. their color is just random. the symbol I found here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Happy_Hu…
• Islam: Green is the identical color of Islam
• Buddha: I'm just following the typical stereotype of Buddhist people
• Jew: My antropology teacher said that the color of ‘Star of David’ symbol is blue. notmisterjekyll.files.wordpres…
• Christian: As a common people, I think Christian is religion that believe Jesus as precious prophet, so Protestant, Chatolict, Jehovah Witness, etc are Christian, So that is why I only draw 1 Christians. For the color, I asked my Christian friend (she is Jehovah Witness) she said black, that is why nun's outfit is black www.halloween-online.com/costu…
• Confucian: Religion from China, I love to draw cheongsam!
• Bahai’s Faith: Religion from Persia, the color of his clothes I got from my research in internet.
Sorry, I don't draw Jain, Primal Indigenous, African traditional and Diasporic, Juche, Spiritism, Cao Dai, Tenrikyo, Neopaganism, Unitarian Universalism, Rastafarian, Scientology, Zoroastrian, and other believes because that are too much and cannot fit in my paper. So I only choose biggest until eleven. (for Jain, I'm so sorry I do not draw it even their population is bigger than Shinto, I'm forgot)
Apologize all my mistake. If you found something wrong, please tell me directly.
And sorry for my English, I'm not very good at it.

Yeah I have seen it, as a muslim myself I don't fan burqa or niqab, I just not like it because I have bad at hearing and I need to see their mouth if they are speaking, and I become hard to see their expression. What make me hate most is because they can see us but we can see them, just so unfair
But hijab is okay, I only need face to have easier communication
Maybe burka avenger is good because yes, she needs it to cover her identity

I always thinking... it's a dream... or reality?
I grow in place with peoples who like to mock others belief, I'm sick about that

Sorry, but the Baha'i Faith comes from Persia in the 19th century, not India. Common mistake.

Well, most Humanists are atheists (one of the main points of Humanism is that it has no supernatural beliefs), and I think for the most part atheists wouldn't object to being represented with the symbol for Humanism. Most of the atheists you'll see participating in interfaith-type stuff are probably Humanists anyway.

I love that you got Atheism in there. That often gets 'forgot' when drawing stuff like this.
The little Islam girl is freaking cute! The Confucian's pose is absolutely adordabiddle!!!
You've been told a kazillion times Baha'i is from Persia, I think the Sihk kid needs a full-on turban not just a hat, (I think?).
Freaking awesome!
Stupid question: do you consider Mormonism to be Christianity? ^ ^

mengky335 In reply to MizuPics [2012-11-29 14:10:07 +0000 UTC]
Yes, I think we should respect to everyone even they have different believes, as long as they don't intend to harm us.
Awww... really??
Ah yes, I forgot to edit eh (sorry!)... maybe you right, I just got reference from here [link]
Mormonism? I don't even know it before... I just try to create general image of christianity, I thought it more like chatolic eh?

Islamic outfits are fun to draw. I've been working on a piece with Saudi outfits but it's not done yet.
On the Sikh kid, I thought they were all grown ups... The hair's right for a child. ^ ^
Yeah, compared to the other religions on here, Mormonism's a tweak of Christianity. My parents are Mormon.

It's good that you have Christianity be represented by one person. For too long, my religion has been divided and it has only caused unnecessary and tragic suffering. I wish more people of my religion could see it like you've depicted it and overcome their differences of opinion.

Even so, actually I got many protest from my christian friend like "you don't draw my religion! where is Jehovah witness?" my my my... I only think if it use Jesus's bible it was christian, even they have different intrepetation and rule.
drawing all christian denomination will erase too many space for other religion
I found funny with this, in christian, usually when we ask someone who use Jesus bible "Are you christian?" "No, I'm Anglican" "No, I'm Chatolic"
But in Islam, "Are you islam?" "Yes" and other muslim will protest, "No! Syiah is not islam! they are Islam traitor!"
