I think you did rather well with the highlights and shading in this one, the quality and soft style of the tone is consistent, and it has a consistent suggestion of a light source coming from the top left. The colouring of the eyes really draw's the viewer's attention too them, and that compliments the original line art.

I quite like the added background with the roses, but I'm not too keen on the embossed frame. I think if you wanted it like a photo, it might have looked better if you'd made the frame a wood colour or even used a wood texture. I can still see a little white around Cosmo's black outlines in places, where the picture was pasted onto the background.

This can be tricky to get rid of, but if you have a steady hand you can try to erase any white edges like that by keeping the layers separate (until you save the picture for the last time) and using a small eraser tool with a soft edge to go around the line art.
