It's nothing short of incredible that it's taken me this many years to draw any TMNT fanart, given that I almost wore out the tapes we had back in the 90's. And it's also funny what kind of things you start paying attention to as you grow older. As a kid, I didn't pay much attention to Splinter. But as time went by, I came to realize some things.

In this day and age, it's no small feat raising a child to be a decent person. Let alone four. Especially if you're a single parent. Top that off with the fact that you're raising four children who are, well, DIFFERENT, when you're shunned by the society as a whole, and I can only come to one conclusion. Splinter, besides being a ninjitsu master, and a super-cool mutant, is also a real Super Dad.
And like all parents, there must've been times when he's had to compromise between his lifestyle and the demands of parenthood.

So, let this silly doodle be my tribute to the amazing rodent, who played some small part in my own upbringing as well.
