Poor Twilight, out of the fire and into the anguish. I just hope AJ and Twilight can stand strong together to pass the dark times they fought against.
Also please don't bring Big Mac back. I know I maybe minority in this and you probably have with the bu-bump in the end. But to me, it would feel cheep to have him come back after the fake out with Twilight. Plus, sometimes loss is unavoidable and it seems right, that Big Mac make the big sacrifice to help Twilight save them all is the best send off a death can bring.

The problem with Big Mac dying is that it would make Star Flare's sacrifice meaningless. He purposely went there to die in order to stop Red Harvest. It was his only goal in all of this. It was the reason he fought for them all to stay behind. Taking two lives would put Star Flare's efforts to waste since he wanted to be the only one to die, stopping Harvest.
Plus, given all that those souls did to help them, to bring down their captor, I highly doubt that they would all let him go. Its obvious that they worked with Twilight to stop him and be free, but now, they have the ability to give her one final gift for freeing them and stopping their nightmare; saving the life of the stallion who went to protect her.
So, no. I don't think that Big Mac dying would do anything to help Twilight. I believe it would actually hinder her since she was only expecting one death, which has occurred. Losing him on top of that would only make facing her friend much harder and it would inevitably force a wedge between the two. It doesn't seem logical enough to kill him after she went through so much to prevent her friends, her mentor, hell the whole WORLD from dying.
She deserves that happiness, I'd say. Tenfold.

I agree with you on this, Big Mac dying would be bad, so just having Star Flare do the deed like he did was a better sacrifice since he did some bad things and would be put in prison or to death for them, so logically sacrificing his life to destroy the crown had to be done

He was already banished. Him being in Equestria at all is a violation of that which would equal his death. Big Mac's death would only ruin Star Flare's sacrifice and make it in vain, since he didn't want anyone else to have to die in order to stop Red Harvest. He did not want anyone else to have to do it. He wanted to redeem himself and he finally had found something worth fighting for: his daughter.
He never knew of her existence until they had captured her. Meeting her only solidified the fact that he had to stop Red Harvest, not for only Equestria or Celestia, but for Starlight. He wanted his daughter to have the rest of her life ahead of her since her older sister never had the chance. ;~;

I just found this gem today.
Metal-Kitty, I must say that you have put me on a four hour roller coaster ride with this comic and I cannot tell you how much I have, and still am, enjoying this! You started colorless and moved into color. From sketchy drawings to amazing art. Red Harvest was disgustingly well done near the end and I would have never shipped Twilight and BigMac before this comic, but now I can't help but wonder! I'm literally in awe. I'm excited to see this through until the end!
This is an amazing comic and I'm desperate to see it through to its conclusion!
I'm crossing my fingers on BigMac's recovery. I'm also interested in seeing Starlight's mother's reaction to Twilight telling her about StarFlare. So many things to wrap up!

I know it´s your comic, and your (wondefull) idea but, if I may have a saying on what will happen from now on, please, make an "Broken Twilight" arc on the story. You know, where Twilight need time to recover,not only body, but mind and soul, after a terrible trial. I love those stories...there is a mini-arc of Broke Twilight in the first fic I´ve read on finfiction.net, the Hard Reset Triology, and I loved it...

When she knew Twilight planned to wear the crown and wish it to death, only to die herself in the process. That's why she sent Big Mac with the kick ass armor.

Now, the answer probably resides some tens of pages before, but to be honest, I don't have the courage to archive-dive now.

The whole reason Star Flare fought them was because he knew that in order to destroy the Dark Crown, the one who wished it gone would also perish in the process. Celestia knew that and if she weren't weakened because of her torture, she would have gone to stop Twilight. Pages 394 and 395 is where this scene is at.
Twilight was told by StarSwirl the Bearded that a life but be forfeited in order to destroy the crown. Celestia knew that if Twilight ran off because she knew that Star Flare would fail, that Twilight had known that she would die. Celestia, unable to stop Twilight since she was already gone, might have condemned her student to death because she couldn't stop her.
That's why she sent Big Mac. He volunteered because he knew Twilight didn't tell her friends about the cost of destroying the Dark Crown.
