Description (Yes, I'm trying out a new stamp base. I like this one, as I can fit more text in it)

This actually isn't just a stamp for blacks and whites, but every race. I just used two words that people would probably be most familiar with. Also, since the black vs white racism war seems more prevalent in America, I figured I'd use that (also because I don't want to list every derogatory word that every race has for whites or vice versa). for all tense and purposes, I'll just stick with that.

The answer to the question in the stamp is usually the same:

"When white people are made into slaves for hundreds of years, then still face persecution a couple hundred years later, then can it be considered racism."

Well, allow me to inform you that whites were slaves long before Americans used black slaves. Over 1 million Europeans Christians were enslaved by Muslims, some of which who were probably black, between 1530 and 1780. And studies suggest the numbers were even higher. [link]

So, my answer is this: We've suffered from slavery. So did you. Bury the fucking hatchet.

What got me going was when one guy said he was called a nigger by "a white terrorist". [link] So, name calling is now terrorism? Maybe I should have homeland security interrogate all the people who called me "poopy pants" when I was a kid. I had no idea name calling was terrorism.

What's even more pathetic is now name calling is being considered a "hate crime", well, only if you say "Nigger". [link] This kid was charged with a hate crime because he said, "What up, Nigger?" and not for beating up a black man. (Then again, I don't think that should be a hate crime either. Crime is crime, people. If he killed someone, he should be charged because he killed a human being. The victim's color doesn't matter!) I agree with the perpetrator's mother:

"Every kid in the neighborhood uses it. It doesn't mean the same thing anymore. They all say it all day long, no matter what race. They all grow up saying it now... All of Nick's friends β€” black, white, Spanish, Chinese β€” they all use the word. You should hear when they talk on the phone to him in jail. "

It's like how the word "fag" changed to be derogatory to gays. "Nigger" is pretty much what "-fag" is on 4chan.

The problem here is that people are putting too much stock in a word. Words have no power unless you give it to them. You might think that that debunks my stamp, but let me paraphrase the first quote I put on here:

Until blacks (and whites) stop bitching about the word "Nigger" then I'll stop bitching about words like "Cracker" and "Honky".

Racism goes both ways. The double standard must end.

P.S. I'm not racist. I used black text. :3

This is an old stamp - made in 2010 so its sort of invalid now with the times.
But if there is anyone that believes this is still true, you are likely an underage white child with parents that are still together.
You probably still go to middle school or high school. Because if you aren't, the only reason left is that you ARE in fact racist
At least if you're a kid (Even 18-year-olds are kids) with these beliefs it's forgivable/can be corrected because of how ignorant and unrealized of yourself you are

But there is no argument otherwise
If you agree with this, you are racist inherently, and the sad thing is you don't even know it

Oh boy... The bait-comment in a provocative, albeit empty reply to someone else's - maybe in equivalency to an ape throwing a fistful of s**t.
"Not all white people" which is true, and reacting so irrationally in the face of people who are actually racially oppressed is only classifying yourself with said racists. (Not you specifically btw. others)
I can see you're bitter because you didn't reply to just me on this Deviation
Both words are crap

Sorry to disappoint you, kid, but this ain't bait. Nice try, though. And yeah, I have replied to other people here, but that's because they keep spewing ignorant remarks like yours. Us non-white people do experience racism, just like white people also experience racism, but we aren't oppressed in this country.

So, lets see if I got this right. What you are saying is that it's ok to treat present day white people like total garbage because of things some of their ancestors did to your ancestors? If this is what you're truly saying, then I have to say that's a pretty fucking stupid reason.

πŸ‘: 6 ⏩: 1

SpringboobSquirepin In reply to LilCoqui [2018-06-17 00:51:55 +0000 UTC]

nope. i'm saying it's understandable for an oppressed group of people to have and express negative feelings towards their oppressors.

and it's also impossible for reverse oppression to exist because for any oppression to exist at all (and i'm assuming you're not denying the existence of oppression in general), society literally has to be built in a way to accommodate one group of people and put them above another; if person A has power over person B, it's clearly impossible for person B to use said power against person A because /they do not have that power/, only person A does. they can be prejudice and discriminate against person B, but they will never be in a position to do harm in the same way.

if you really don't get it, i'd recommend this video which both explains it, and does so with humour! youtube.com/watch?v=dw_mRaIHb-M

Black people β€”as a groupβ€” were oppressed back in the day. Black people nowadays are not. Therefore, black people can no longer be considered as an oppressed group. The title haven't been passed on, either, because you cannot inherit experiences of an oppressed nor guilt of an oppressor.

To the definition of oppression, intergroup dynamics and social structure are irrelevant. Even if they weren't, there's nothing a member of another racial/ethnic group could legally do to me that would be legal for me to do to him or her.

So the only thing people like that comedian β€”and I'm using the term loosely hereβ€” would need that time machine for is to be oppressed again.

have you ever spoken to a black person? asked them their experiences? read about them? there are plenty of black people detailing the ways in which they experience racism. or do you think black people as a collective are all lying? if so, please tell me for what purpose they're doing so.

here's a simple way to prove you wrong: google "unprofessional hairstyle."

Have you ever spoken to a white person and asked how they’ve experienced racism?

To clarify my first comment, I referred to black people as a group throughout the whole thing. Of course its members have been oppressed; anyone can oppress anybody at an individual level.

From your example, I’m assuming you’ve more nuanced issues in mind than blatant examples of racism. Here’s the thing:

1) Just because our attitudes have changed for the better doesn’t mean the cultures of minorities will β€”or even has toβ€” be adapted to the same extent as the more dominant culture.

2) This is ultimately subjective and not even a racial issue unless the same hairstyle could pass as professional on a white person.

3) Google ”American inventors.” Either there’s bias in favor of black people over whites or the Google search result isn’t as telling as you think it is.

I know this thread chain is hella old but i wanna say that as a "black person" i hate i have to say that to make a point... but I agree with you.
people of this day and age are not oppressed they just wish they was just for the brownie points behind it. People always think they are owed something at every givien time because " my ancestry.... omfg stfu lolΒ

What is in the past is in the past. People living in the now need to get a grip on reality.
Its like some off the wall trend to see who can get the most people to notice them by playing the "victim" card.

Again sorry for Necroing your comment feed. Was bout to snag this stamp before I read something stupid from op...

It's okay. At least now, were the OP to actually respond to my points, he/she can now respond to you. Let's see him/her trying to convince you you're oppressed.

On a serious note, I'm sure you've been told that more than once in these kind of discussions.
