The work on his elbows is extraordinary (again, wonderful use of contrast), and the red hatch background is a flawless container to such a warm and emotional piece. hmmmm, i'll try to put it in words...
to be able to love & be loved trouly we need to drop all our masks, become "egoless" & surrender completly witout fear.....now, some might think that that's easy (as i once did) but when the right time comes& the right person with it-all of the hidden fears come to the surface...... that's where love has "battles" to "fight"......it's a painful process but it's defenetly worth the trouble

I don't really see it that way... maybe it's just me, but I think that love is more of a mutual thing, and no one really needs to surrender anything. Dropping the masks, and becoming 'egoless', as you said, is something you do out of trust - which is definitely no surrender. And I wouldn't say that it's really all that painful to love someone or be loved. Perhaps I am alone in this, however.

also, with regard to the title, i like how it is really up to the viewer to decide who is surrendering. her posture suggests total relaxation, and a giving in, but he is the one going down on his knees before her.
perhaps, when it comes to love, both must surrender.
