I'd love to come up with some sort of clever answer about how Eldar are psykers and there's wraithbone in the weapons that allow them to fire the weapons through nerve impules, but truth is you're right I forgot it.

Rangers are the basic unit, who can be upgrade to Pathfinders for 5pts a model.Who I think hunt in the webways and range ahead of the Eldar army in real space

true, you'd think with two different races that they'd use names unique to the races. Personally I think pathfinder sounds too human.

Indeed I can understand how humans who had encountered Tau Pathfinders would name them Pathfinders but I can't see how a human would tell the difference between a Ranger and a Pathfinder (assuming they even spot him)

true,for a generic unit tag both work but since Pathfinders are veterans they could have used a traditional Eldar name.

a little bit of effort on GW's part would help. They have a whole alphabet for for Chaos, Dwarfs and Eldar. Some terms would be easy

they probably do exist if you read the novels sometimes you get bits from the zeno perspective where they use thier own terms and words.

in the codex they start as rangers but can be upgraded to pathfinders with better rifles and improved stealth.
