Description
So, as of 2 days ago, The Covid-19 emergency is over in my area of the world. Somehow I missed that particular headline, but it's here.

Part of me still dosent beleive it's real for some reason. Call it defatisim, call it paranoia, call it disbeleif, but back in early 2020 when the Pandemic began, when it became more and more apparent that the whole world was in for a long and gruelling lockdown , there wasa despairing part of me that thought:" this was never gonna end".

and when we got into the 2nd and 3 rd year, it became less a despairing notion and something I had to live around, much like the Flu and various other illness that had the capability to kill. And while mask policies did lighten up in my area of the world, and gatherings began to form again, there was always an unspoken phantom of "you can keep your mask off outside for now."

but now that we, as a nation, as a people, as a civilization, hell, as a species, have managed to develop vaccines and boosters, and now take scientific anaylsis and fact more seriously, that phantom feels like it's been banished. Or rather, thats its no longer an indomitable titan we must ednure, but a dragon we can slay, much like the dragon in the fable of the dragon tyrant.

Having gotten Covid myslef and gone through it, it will never again feel like some abstract thing that dosent truly effect me.

However, for others the effects of covid are sadly far more pronounced and permanaent; lives cut short, famailies diminished or their physical sense and abilites forever damaged or changed, and thats not even getting into the effects of isolation. To those people, regardless if I know you or not, regardless of your place of birth, your race, creed, orintation, nation, culture, or belief, know this:

my heart goes out to you.

some of us where more well off during these past three years, others sadly not so much, but I can say this with absolutle certanity:

We have ALL been through the ringiner with covid-19, its nuemrous variants, and the insane faisco of deliberate and malicious disinformation that contirbuted to the mess.

But despite the despair, the loss, the lonilness and the dread, we've finally, finally, managed to come out the other side of that dreadful tunnel.

Not just with better knowledge or better health, but now with a sense of value.

Of Apperceation.

Apperceation for the outdoors, for our firends and family, for our towns and neighborhoods and cities, for art and movies and music, for common goodness, for the effort of our health workers and the countless other professions that kept society afloat, for our social networks that made it jsut a bit easier to deal with the isoaltion at times, even with all its drawbacks and drama.

Apperceation for being able to finally say this.

desptie the numerous problems that we still face, both new and old, we can breath a little easier to finally saying this, for however long we can:
