Description

Here is a Versus (Death Battle or not) that I recenttly thought of
having watched both Venom movies back-to-back recently.

Venom has fought both Riot and Carnage in both films,
(and BARELY survived each battle)

But I wondered what might've happened if Riot and Carnage fought each other instead.

Would Riot have an easier time than Venom did fighting "The Red One?",
considering he has similar shapeshifting abilities as Carnage??

Let's take the time to REALLY think about this one...

Let's first start with some Behind-the-Scenes film film facts for Venom (2018),
as initially, Carnage WAS suppose to be the villain of that film.

But given the film was already telling their new version of Venom's origins,
it seemed a bit much to also cram Carnage's origin in as well.

So, Carnage was cut and replaced with Riot, who in the original comics
was one of Five of Venom's offspring that was extracted by the Life Foundation.

(The other four being Scream, Agony, Lasher and Phage)

The fact that Riot is Carnage's replacement in the 2018 film might explain
why Riot has the same ability to form his limbs into blade weapons
that is more associated with Carnage.

And while Riot in the film isn't related to Venom,
he is still treated as a "Next Generation" Symbiote who is stronger than Venom.

(so he might as well be.)

In any case, this puts Riot and Carnage at nearly the same power level.

(I say NEARLY, as while Venom had doubts of defeating both Riot and Carnage,
he still attempted to fight Riot, but needed convincing to fight Carnage as he was "a RED One."

I guess there is something about RED symbiotes
that somehow make them more dangerous than standard ones.)

OKAY, in short. Riot and Carnage have similar shapeshifting abilities,
which could end their fight in a draw if not for some unique powers that Carnage has.

For one, the way the Carnage symbiote bonds to it's host (Cletus Kasady)
is a bit different from both Venom and Riot.

When Venom and Riot transform, they appear to grow over their hosts like living suits of armor
(with their mouths opening and closing like the visor of a knight's helmet.)

When Carnage transformers, he literally morphs the hosts body into it.
being less like a living suit, and more sharing the same body.

As such, Carnage was shown to open holes in it's own body to avoid taking damage,
and even grow to seeming giant size whenever he eats enough people.

(It is unclear if Venom or Riot can also do this,
but it is likely they can't, and these are traits unique only to Carnage.)

One last factor to consider: Motivation.
Both being "Evil Symbiotes", why would Riot and Carnage fight?

Let's examine both their goals in both Venom films.

Riot's goal was to use the Life Foundation's Rocket Ship
to ferry more Symbiotes to Earth so they could assimilate and consume everything.

(which would make them more like Parasites, than Symbiotes.)

Carnage seemed to have similar goals in his film...

though a deleted scene revealed an even greater ambition to replace mankind
with Human/Symbiote hybrids born from Himself, his host and Shriek.

As such, Carnage may consider Riot a threat to his "repopulation" plan
If all Riot wants to do is consume everything, and move onto the next planet.

(Not that Carnage needs much reason to do anything,
but for the sake of this topic, he does have a logical one.)

So, yeah. Let Riot and Carnage duke it out with each other
while Venom and Eddie chill out and eat some popcorn.
