In school you were probably using OS 9, that went obsolete in 1999. I love Mac now, but I hated OS 9. The schools kept using that for ages. I know the prices are expensive, but it's really worth it!

A good idea is to build your own computer then install OSX 10.5. The OS is only about $100 and it's all you will ever want in an OS.

Actually we just had gotten new computers that ran the newest OS about a year ago, my senior year. To be honest, they were probably so hard to use because of the discount hardware that was inside of them, so it would be a little unfair of me to base all of my judgments off of my use of those Macs only. However, I still do not fully understand why the OS does some things the way it does, it's like, it's okay to use some of the same things that Windows does, it doesn't mean that you aren't original! For the sake of efficiency, you know?

Other than those semi-large qualms, I generally like the Macs. They're just completely overpriced on the market (like buying a Mercedes, you pay for the name and don't get too good of a machine). So yeah, if I was ever to want a Mac-like machine, I would just build myself a little rig and load one of the OS's on there. Good point And Apple has thought of some innovative things, which is one of the reasons that I got the Objectdock to begin with.

1: Take windows logo
2: Add shiny generic blue background
3: Overlay and invert an Apple logo
4: Change the Mac logo's blend mode to erase

You didn't even anti-alias. You fail hard. Either that or your Mac crashed when you tried to.

My Mac never crashes! I do graphics every day, along with my photography. Sometimes in sizes up to 10,800 x 7,200 px with several layers in photoshop.

now the windows, that sometimes crashed with only a 2000x3000px image.

By the way, the image you criticized was done on his windows computer. And the problem is that it was reduced and compressed for the internet, not that he did a bad job.

Scito-Te-Ipsum In reply to Bw-Photo [2009-04-26 12:48:46 +0000 UTC]

Wow, someone's heard of sarcasm!

My little cousin has a cheap-ass plastic toy, it doesn't crash either. Weird! I bet you they're the same thing x3

And lil dude, lemme tell you: There's a lot more to image editing than what operating system you're on. You can say all day long that Photoshop can handle huge-ass pictures while MSPaint chokes on anything bigger than 2000 square. Details, man, details!

Also, "the windows". Wow.

Compressed and reduced for the internet? Jesus he did a bad job at that, then. He should try a bit harder cause I've the same thing plenty of times and the final image was just as good looking as the original and had a much, MUCH smaller foot print.

I've ran every version of Windows from 98 to Vista and I've never had problems with it crashing. I think you're just stupid. Like...really stupid. Like those dumb-ass commercials your overlord makes.

Lastly, nice gallery. Photos. You must know ALL ABOUT drawing, huh? I guess you put me in my place!

Oh you are a big bad boy huh? You must be a really smart guy for insult in someone else huh? Well I have run windows too, and it crashes for me, so don't you go telling him that he is stupid. I, in fact, no a lot about computers, and will not stand for any other mac fan being told he is stupid just because he likes macs. Didn't your mom teach you to "agree to disagree"? Do you have any idea what a socially acceptable conversation is?

Also, you have no idea what you are talking about. Mac invents whatever Microsoft makes. Microsoft is SO original with their iTablet! WOW! They are brilliant! I wonder where they got that idea from. Oh cool! Windows 8 with it's little touchpad icons! Where are they getting these awesome ideas?! Ya, that's right, Apple. Windows 8 is the worst OS X rip out there.

Thirdly, I use powerful developer programs that run FAR better on the mac in concurrence with what ~BW-Photo said. I also have much more success using dev programs that are cleaner and less bulky then in Windows. Easily this makes OS X better to someone with any experience on computers. Windows users only like to "think" that they are so awesome. The only difference is that they have to restart their computer a lot more.

lolb&. Dirty Mac users need to learn their place. I love how he wrote "no" instead of "know".

In response to the "arguments" presented:
Admitting Windows crashes for you is essentially admitting you don't know how to use it. It's clear your mom never taught you common sense, or you wouldn't be using an overpriced kids toy.

If you know your history about Apple, you'd know that most of what Apple makes is SO BAD that they end up dropping it later and buying someone elses product to call their own. Perhaps you've heard of NeXTSTEP? It's an OS made by a company Jobs started after he got fired from Apple. That company barely made any sales at all, and Apple ended up buying them to replace their current shitty OS. [link]

The reason their OS was so frighteningly shitty at the time was because each time a new version comes out, any and ALL programs written for the previous version would become outdated and would need to be rewritten due to their incredibly stupid memory management. [link] In fact they still have issues with this thanks to their proprietary nature. Macs are almost always a year behind the latest version of Java because each time a new version comes out, they can't just use Sun's version, they have to code their own. Hell, just recently they stopped supporting it at all. Enjoy your outdated, limited, underpowered, overpriced operating system.

Meanwhile, being a coder, I spend a lot of time reading through SDKs and I can say without a doubt that Microsoft goes out of their way to make sure they follow all legal precedence in EVERY country they're sold in, they're virtually -completely- backwards compatible, and they try to make things as efficient as they can. You say they ripped off Apple by making their interface a little prettier? Well, it's pretty much common knowledge at this point that Apple ripped off Xerox for their GUI in the first place. [link]

Lastly, [link] [link] and plenty more. And on top of that, XCode doesn't natively support cross platform compilation like visual studio. I used to write homebrew DS apps in it. Let's see a Mac do that.

Macs can't even cut and paste files without coding it in yourself. -_-

your right.
But Microsoft is working on this new system called "Live Mesh"...
It's really innovative, you should read about it... I don't know how tight the security would be but it sounds like 'next generation' of computing....

Let's see how that will come along...

TaktarTheLombax In reply to MeXuT [2008-05-26 12:29:06 +0000 UTC]

That's a very interesting thing! But again a copy of an Apple idea. There is a feature in Mac OS X Leopard which does that. It seems that Microsoft is just trying to make an improved version of it!

Boonzeet In reply to TaktarTheLombax [2008-11-29 00:04:34 +0000 UTC]

Okay so how vague is 'Next Generation' you can't really copy 'Next Generation' from Apple ? There's a feature in Mac which does what? Becomes next gen? WOW. /sarcasm.

Bizzaro9 In reply to Bw-Photo [2009-05-04 09:42:58 +0000 UTC]

The whole switch worked great for me! The best part is not needing to have any anti-virus software. Mac's don't have the problems with getting buggy like Windows does. The only down sides are that you really can't update them once you switch. Or at least I can't... Also, if you're running pirated software you tend to have problems running big resource hogging programs. Mine will read Photoshop but if I open Illustrator then Photoshop shuts down. That can get irrating!!!
