How did you make the eye so prominent in the shot? Considering the mess it was surprising the full eye made it into the shot Strange things happen with a body covered in crud! Believe me, I know this all too well! hehe

I just brightenen it a bit up in PS.
Keeping the eye open in the mud was quite easy. the eye UNDER the mud is open as well. is really no problem for me - submerging with keeping the eyes open *g* (i LOVE mud *g*).

I didn't want to ask because I was afraid it was going to offend you --which it shouldn't, people do it all the time-- but I was wondering if you added the eye via another layer since it would be SUCH a shame to not see such a pretty eye!
Have you seen my photo work? Granted I'm not as experienced as you are... I've only been shooting for a year and a few months out of that year have been my camera messing up because of total FREAK ACCIDENTS. Really! Here's a link to my stuff... [link]

no, i would have been not offended, but i never (never!) fake this way. of course i do picture editing - but usually i simply use it for contrast control and color editing. i like to take the pictures by photographing not by editing.
So even the tentacles in some pictures have really been there - also all the loveley mess. i often get asked if the models have really done that. and: i will never photograph an idea with a model, that i would not also have done AS a model *g*

Oh I definitely believe you. Like the comment I left you, a photographer named Remco Van Den Bosch does similar shots and was going to do some with me in LA but I've been too BROKE to make it! It actually surprised me how similar you all shoot! It's obviously not because either one of you is "copying" the other since you two have NO idea about each other, so that's all the more strange! I really think you should take a look... You two are AMAZING!
I don't mind "weird" shots, but there is NO way I could put the "bell" of an octopus in my mouth. I've eaten tentacles off of octopus, squid, sea-urchin roe, but NO WAY will I put that gloppy mess in my mouth! haha.

thank you for the compliments. (i get red)
i know remco and his work - we do indeed work around the same theme, but with a quite different style in the visualisation i think. i also have him as a DA-Friend here for a long long time (and was also astounded when i found him and compared our work ). Too bad that you didn't manage to shot with him in L.A. yet.
it was not too difficult to do that with the octopus - because it was real fresh and "tasty" *g*
when is coming some new messy work of you? I am watching you *g*.
Greetz to the other side of the ocean

Well, I don't mind octopus AT ALL. I'm a huge fan of sushi and that includes octopus sashimi... I just HATE the texture of the "bell" (head) of the octopus. It's so gelatinous! I don't like anything "jelly-like." In fact, you'll see me "filleting" seeds out of pickle spears just because they're suspended in this jelly-like mass! Eww! I'm a very texture-oriented person... I LOVE foods of all sorts. Just try me; I either can MAKE it or I've eaten it or BOTH!
Remmy is a fantabulous man and I'm glad he's been patient with me. I wish you two weren't so ridiculously far away! It does prove it's a terribly small world because of your similarities though. And yes, I definitely see the difference Most people are too superficial to look beyond the theme!
I should have more "messy" stuff up soon because I'm shooting a pictorial for my BIRTHDAY I'm going to be rolling around in CAKE. YUM!
I just may post some new ones soon...
