Many welcomes. It should work nicely for that.

It does. I've already done some tests with Amazon video, which worked nicely.

This machine is so powerful there are not many tasks it cannot do. I can't think of any, actually. With Noctua cooling, it should last forever, even under constant full load.

Indeed.
Ghost is replacing a box of similar size, which I had to replace because there was no longer proper 32-bit software under Linux for it available and the fact that 2 GB main memory was the maximum the box supported. It was struggling very hard even with a slim linux distri.Β

It was really a shame that they didn't gave their little EeeBox a bit more power because it would have been awesome otherwise.

My network switch is bigger than that tiny technological wonder.

Ah, so default size. With or without external antennas?

Antennae are internal. Low and high band.

My router has external antenna which are about as long as the router itself is wide,
a little bit longer than a hand or so.

When I resided at the House of Blue Flowers, we had a LinkSys Nighthawk router that has three antennae, each about six inches long. These could be aimed to get the best signal propagation pattern. It was a fine router.

I used to have Netgear router which I did replace because the box was way too old
that there were no longer any updates for it available nor did it support 5 Ghz range
or Gigabit LAN. Its range wasn't the best either, probably because its internal antenna.

I still have an assortment of Netgear switches, some 100MIPs and one 1000MIPs. They are built like tanks and still work great after many years of service.

It's not gone, I've kept it together with my old trusty DSL router, which maybe old, but just in case cable connection doesn't work
I have fallback to use, even it's pretty slow. It's better than no internet connection at all.

Excellent.

Miarath In reply to slowdog294 [2018-01-20 22:44:11 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, well I learned the hard way.
To be honest I still have a DSL connection here, which I normally won't need, but considering
that cancelling that in favor a pure phone connection won't same us any money we keep it as it is.
It's rather slow, but as I said it's better than no fallback in case cable connection fails to workΒ
for whatever reason.

THey are independent, yes. Dual 100MIPs modem connections, the routers are gigabit, though...
