Dragon's Egg is my new favorite book, and one of it's most prominent characters is the immeasurably bright Seargent (and later Scholar,) Swiftkill, so named because as a child she killed the powerful and terrifying "Swift" armed only with a short eating knife.She is, of course, a Cheela.
Pictured here with her "Dragon Lance" made from the crystalic inner supports of the Dragon Plant, Swiftkill patrols her clan's portion of Egg, eyes at the ready.
You guys, you have to read this book.

Ohh, I am reading the book right now but I didn't get in this part yet, I am still on the chapter God, with the Six Gods travelling through the sky and Dragon Slayer approaching the Dragon's Egg. It's always great to find fans of your favorite obscure science fiction books.

I was so annoyed when Qui-Qui gave way to Attilla. Argh!
I mean, I did like pink-eyes, but her children are douche-bags.

it was just how the humans turned the laser off that ended up in her death.
but in a story about an accelerated race, it's hard to connect with the characters, because none of them last until the end

Dude, your cheela actually look like single cell organisms, like they should. SwiftKiller always was my favorite character from the first book.
